POEM We’re the class of ’64; The teachers here will curse no more. Behind us are 12 years of knowledge; Now we're set to enter college. But, first, before we have to go, We want Neponset folks to know About each pupil in this class-Every lad and every lass! Alphabetically prepared, A stanza for each student’s shared. Henry Longfellows we are not. So, please, don’t laugh if something doesn't rhyme. Jim Berry is a friendly lad-Always smiling, never sad. At dances known as swivel-hips, Jim's always glad to take a tip. Barb Carley also graduates; For college days she cannot wait. As reigning Queen she's shed some tears; Good luck to her in future years. Tall John Gerrond will be missed After high school is dismissed. Toward college John has turned his eye; The world will look when he walks by. Center on the football team; Public speaking with a gleam. Of course, you know who this must be, Tim Golby's the celebrity. Dan Gunning is intelligent; Many hoi rs on studies spent. Athletics were his high aim; He’s sure to gain himself much fame. Pam Holsclaw is a friendly girl. Glad to give the boys a whirl, With pen or pencil she can draw Anything without a flaw. Bob Johnson is quite studious; He’s taught us to be dutious”; Never shirking, ne’er a tear. He was our President this year. Mary Kaiser is quite smart-She knows studies like an art. In any field she will succeed Through life’s parade she’s sure to lead Lefty is a Senior, too. (Doug Miles as he’s known to you.) He used to be a real clown. But, someone really tamed him down. Carol Miller is attractive; In band and chorus she is active. Her grades reveal she gave her all-in future years she will not fall. Dawn Morris is a lot of fun; To keep her pace one has to run. Neatness is a trait of hers Which will show through in future years Jim Robinson is quite a guy-We doubt if he will go awry. Figures are his interest- But, these as numerals are dressed. Marilyn Shaner is quite sweet-For one fine boy she’s left her feet. The last 12 years have flown quite fast. And college days are here at last. Louise is everybody’s friend; She will help you to the end. Many pranks she has displayed-And many teachers she has grayed. Jay Verbout’s an athlete- None but sports can quite compete. For college he is set to go So future years will make him dough. The class of '64 unfurled To take their place out in the world. Though each will separate in life, They’ll each find happiness-not strife. Today we follow, tomorrow we lead. ’’ This has been our Senior creed. Do good things--we know we should; Then N. H, S. has done some good. Our coach is quite a funny guy-Always clever, sometimes shy. Two years as sponsor of our gang Has taught us to respect his fang.

PROPHECY This is station WIRX coming to you from Neponset, Illinois. Today we are granting the request of Mr. Larry Freeman, coach at Neponset High School. Mr. Freeman wants to look in the Grow Up Globe to find out what happened to the 1964 graduates of Neponset High. So without further ado, we will tune in these fine people. First and foremost on our list is Daniel Eugene Gunning. Looking in our globe, we see that Dan is a mild mannered sanitary engineer of the Handy Dandy Garbage Service. In his spare time Mr. Gunning goes around performing feats of strength and daring in the disguise of SUPER TANK who can leap the tallest building in a single bound. Second is Miss Louise Swearingen. We aren't getting very good reception on our globe because Louise is so far away. She is now in Rome participating in the Olympics. Miss Swearingen is representing the United States in the ladies' cross-country race. She has won a gold medal in every race in which she has run. For a hobby Louise raises greyhound race dogs and operates a bookie joint on the sly. I am sure the class would be very proud of John Gerrond, better known in society circles as Jacque Geront, the world-famous ballet dancer. When not rehearsing for ballet he donates his time to teach high school girls the manly art of self-defense. Mr. Freeman is surprised to learn that Carol Miller is a bunny in a Playboy Club. This club along with several others is owned by James Wendell Berry. Mr. Berry has found this to be an entertaining and profitable business. Next we will tune in California on our Grow Up Globe. Mary Kaiser has landed the job of Tinkerbell at Disneyland. Every night she can be seen as she flies down from Matterhorn Mountain. Jim Robinson is still studying at the University of Illinois. During his first ten years of college there, he perfected a new technique for growing telephone poles. He is an extremely fast worker so he also packs roads with his 12 by l's. Mr. Freeman chuckled when he found out that Pam Holsclaw owns an alligator farm in Florida. Miss Holsclaw very obligingly wrestles five hundred pound alligators for all spectators. During her leisure hours she is a professional bubble bubble blower on the Lawrence Welk Show. I wonder if the rest of the class knows about Bob Johnson. He can now be seen in Tarzan movies swinging through the trees and wahooing. Mr. Johnson worked for eleven years to develop his muscles so he could fulfill his lifelong desire. The Grow Up Globe shows us that Dawn Morris is now living in Los Angeles where she manages an Old Ladies Home. Miss Morris cooks, cleans, and nurses for her boarders and enjoys the work because she loves doing for others. Dawn’s hobby is driving in stock car races. She and her ladies do all the work on the cars. I can’t seem to get all of Miss Carley on the Globe. She has gained quite a bit of weight. Barbara tips the scales at a dainty two hundred and fifty pounds. She is the star performer at the Metropolitan Opera House. When not singing, Miss Carley is the chief food sampler for Betty Crocker cake mixes. Jay Verbout manufactures bird houses under the brand name of Jay Bird. He is also President of the local Bird Watcher's Society. For his good deeds he shoots owls and stuffs them for the F.F. A. Tim Golby is busy at his job now. Because of his mathematical mind he has achieved the important position of head raisin counter for Post Raisin Bran. Fifty-four for regular boxes and nine hundred and ninety-nine for king-size boxes. At this moment Miss Shaner is leading a safari across Africa. She generally makes five trips each year and loses an average of three people on each trip. However, no one is allowed to shoot the animals. Doug Miles is the last person on our list. He is a pizza pie flipper in his shop, The Pizza Shack. He can be seen in the window flipping pizza after pizza after pizza. At night Doug plays the guitar in the local hootenannies. Thank you for your request Mr. Freeman and thank you in radio land for listening. This is your friendly announcer, William Mellen, saying good NIGHT.!

Witnessed by: John Gerrond Carol Miller Jim Robinson Jim Berry
