A T T H E S T A T I O N CLASS TRIP MAY 30, TO JUNE 2, 1961 o N O u R W A Y READY OR NOT? HOME We left Kewanee on the train at 6:23 in the morning, May 30. We arrived in Chicago at 8:30 at the Union Depot. A taxi ride to the Hotel Sherman followed. After we had unpacked and looked around the hotel, we took the subway to the Museum of Science and Industry. Afterwards, it was back to the hotel where we dressed for our evening on the town. Then it was off to supper at the Forum Cafeteria and to the Show Mein Kamp. After the show we looked the big city over for a while and then went back to the hotel, to bed after our first day on the town. Wednesday morning we went to the Art Institute. It rained in the afternoon so we split up and some went to the zoo as planned while others went to the Prudential Building and some took in the show Gone With The Wind. That evening we met for dinner at Hoe Sai Gai and experienced some Chinese food. The evening entertainment consisted of seeing a Broadway stage hit Gypsy, starring Ethel Merman. We started out on the new month the next morning with a visit to Maxwell Street, saw many bargains but we were tight with the few dollars we had left. In the afternoon we had some free time and we took in various sights in The Loop. For dinner we went to the La Siesta Restaurant and ate Mexican Tacos, mixed feelings about the food. Then we went by bus to Riverview for an evening of thrilling rides and entertainment. Our last day was mostly free of sightseeing so we went out to get rid of the money we had left over????? At 3:00 we left for the depot and home with many memories of our four days together in the Windy City and the realization that this was our last time together, as a class. Wc would all like to join in thanking Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ger-rond for giving up their time to chaperone our trip. WE HAD A BALL! THE HOTEL AWAY SWEET
