MR. WILLIAM L. KIRB Y, JR., Principal As our first principal, Mr. Kirby faced a stupendous task of organization. His vision and energy created a school of which we are all intensely proud. Under his dedicated leadership we can confidently expect to go forward. MR. J. W. HARVILLE, Assistant Principal Mr. Harville is truly Mr. Kirby’s right-hand man. A dynamo for work, he solves knotty problems of transportation and discipline each day. His participation in commu¬ nity organization is as varied and as valuable as his administrative work. 12

MRS. REEF A McGUFFIN General Supervisor Mrs. McGuffin came to us in 1950 as Elemen¬ tary Supervisor. In 1953, she became General Super¬ visor. This position she had actually been filling from the beginning. To every teacher, pupil, patron, or civic leader who comes to her with a problem, she gives her time and her sympathetic understanding. A trouble-shooter unexcelled, she rarely fails to find a satisfactory solution. As a supervisor and as a citizen, Mrs. McGuffin makes daily contributions to the wel¬ fare of the people of Nelson County. mp - 1 1 r 11 i ' ] J MR. RICHARD MOON Visiting Teacher Mr. Moon, better known as Dickie, is an alert, industrious, and frequently called upon visiting teacher. Because of his youthful appearance, his good sense of humor, and his ability to get along well with the young as well as the old, he is sometimes mistaken for one of the high school boys. Though he is small is stature, he is great in performance.

MISS FRANCES GRANT Secretary Miss Grant is officially secretary to Mr. Kirby, but actually she is secretary for all of us. Her office is as busy as Times Square. Under exacting, some¬ times exasperating conditions, she works quietly and prodigiously. She’s efficient, she ' s gracious, she ' s decorative.
