FalCon Fashion There is no getting around it. In order to attend Armstrong High School you have to wear clothes, or at least a reason- able facsimile of clothing. No amount of griping to the admin- istration seems to help relax this oppressive dress code. I Therefore. most students feel obliged to purchase or obtain ' some sort of apparel before school starts The bikinis are banished to the back of the drawer and inventory is taken of ' last year's wardrobe. Next step, the typical student lists all of theitems he or she would like to buy in orderito enhance his or her appearance of wealth, sex appeal, and good taste. Though wearing clothes to school is a complex problem, some people find that rigid restrictions provide a creative chaI-I lenge. Goes All Out This year, though good old blue jeans were as popular as ever, dressing up was seen more frequently - even the boys were polishing their Adidas occasionally. Skirts became in again, along with ruffles, lace and other romantic adornments. The new feminine look was well received and very much appreci- ated: 0f whistles. appraising glances and flowery compli- ments count for anythingD In spite of the abundance of boots, vests and suits, the unisex look was entirely avoided, as styling this year took a softer approach to the difference between the sexes. Not to be outdone, the guys cleaned up their act too. Fewer overalls. painter's pants and tattered jeans appeared in the halls as the best seats in town were reupholstered in neat corduroys, denim pants and - wow - even color coordinated pants! Hair styles this year were shorter on the boys, slightly longer on the girls, as their post - Olympic Dorothy Hamill cuts grew out. Fashions this year have been adapted and changed to the students interests and tastes, making this year, a rendition of the new and the old popular once again at Armstrong.
