Dvd ka! 21 Semper ilidclis - 'ytlways z7aitl1ful What theme could better be applied to this edition of the Troiani , than that of the United States Marine Corps in which our principal, Clinton V. Brown, served during portions of two wars. Mr. Brown joined the Marine Corps V-12 Program while he was a student at Indiana State Teachers College. He was sent to Western Michigan College, where he was a platoon leader for six months, then on to Parris Island and Quantico, where he was asked to remain as an instructor, after receiving his commission as 2nd lieutenant. At the war's end, after faithful fulfillment of all military obligations, Mr. Brown returned to Western U. where he lettered in basketball, baseball, football and track. He was chosen to play in the Mid-American Conference Foot- ball Game, and served as left tackle on the first team in the All-State Selection. Number 75 was further honored with offers to play pro-football with The Redskins, The Giants and The Rams. A masters degree from the University of Michigan was our principal's reward for faithfulness to his studies. He was a teacher and head coach in Rockford, Michigan, for three years, until the Korean War necessitated his return to the U. S. Marine Corps. This time he served as Executive Officer at the Newport, Rhode Island, Naval Base and was promoted to the rank of Captain. Upon release from service, the Browns came to California and, after fulfilling this state's requirements for teaching by attending U. C. L. A. , our principal taught at Bellflower High, went on to Artesia High as Director of Attendance, Director of Counseling and Assistant Principal, then, upon opening, came to Neff High as Principal. He resides with his wife Helen and two children, Bobby and Nancy. Faithful performance of study and duty have led Mr. Brown along a path which has had only one direction- straight upl We students at Neff High are most fortunate to have a big man to guide us, and to set high standards. As our tribute for the dedication and service you have rendered to us and to our school, we, the students of Neff High, proudly and sincerely dedicate the 1966 Troiani to you, Clinton V. Brown, our friend and principal, and we humbly vow that to both you and our fine school, we shall be always faithful. fiifigzyi , . 4 If A . t , iiii .: f- ' -' - .,. g,at.,.fx:E:-515451 .1 '
