Mr. Brien, Supervisor of School Properties, serves as head of the maintenance department in the schools of the City of Neenah. Ray Feinauer and Andy Peterson joined the maintenance staff when the school was nothing but floors and walls. Wally Gauger has served as janitor for about seven years and in addition to his janitor work has been the one responsible for the beauty of the school grounds. Mrs. Nobbe is the school's only janitress and has been on the school's staff since October 14, 1929. Her tasks include laundry and general cleaning. Mr. Longhurst does general work around the school and on the school grounds. Mr. Braemer does summer work at the school and serves as night Watchman. The janitors hold an important position in our school life and were it not for them, our school would not be as neat and orderly and attractive as it is. Page 15

Page 16 814244 of 1946 in Rewbw At last we're seniors, and this is our last year at Neenah High School. Soon we'll graduate and be among the ever-growing number of Neenah High alumni. Our four years of high school life will have been concluded. They were four years of attending classes and assemblies, enjoying football games, basketball games, and dances, and doing the countless other things which are part of high school life. These four years have gone by with astonishing swiftness, but it is natural that they should, as time passes quickly when there are so many enjoyable and interesting things to do. In 1942, as Frosh, we entered with cautious anticipation. We found that Neenah High was really a nice place and then began to plunge into the activities. We made our initial plunge at the Cub Mixer and then began to join clubs. We entered into sports and attended sports events and dances. We displayed an amazing vitality as we dashed importantly around the halls, not bothering about who might be in our pathway, and not daring to look back to see who it was that we upset. We were not well acquainted with the procedure of electing class officers, for after class elections were over, we found that Charles Bentzen was the only person nominated for an office. He became president, and then we held a special election and filled up the blank spaces. The final results showed that Charles Bentzen was presi- dent, Jean Sorenson, vice-president, William Wood, secretary, and William Kraut- kramer, treasurer. Then we agreed on Mr. Cummings as class advisor. As sophomores, we went about doing routine things and did nothing excep- tional. We elected Don Vought as president of the class, Nancy Pauers, vice-presi- dentg Paul Gross, secretary, and Phil Kuehl, treasurer. Our third year at Neenah High, we elected William Krautkramer, Jean Achter- berg, and Don Vought as class officers. The second semester, we were occupied with preparations for the Junior-Senior Prom. We spent a great deal of time planning and working on the decorations. The gym was decorated entirely in Dutch style, with a windmill, dike, and mural paintings depicting Dutch scenes. All the decorating was done by members of the junior class. After the Prom, we found our treasury much emptier, but when we thought of the fun that the Prom had given us, we felt amply repaid. That brings us up to the fourth and last yearmour senior year, which was full of busy activity and good times. This year our officers were Bill Wood, president, Wally Christenson, vice president, Diana Keck, secretary, and Phil Carey, treasurer. This year we wore the new senior ring which is to be the model for all the future rings for Neenah High. We were given aptitude tests, which were analyzed and used for guiding and advising the students about the fields of work which they might enter after graduation. At the end of the year, we concluded our high school activities with the Prom. CThis time we went as guests.D Then came the Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, and graduation. We leave Neenah High wit a feeling that We have spent four worth- while years within its vgalls, and hope, hat we ourselves have contributed our bit to the school in returns.
