BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. R. W. Blackwell, President; Mr. W. W. Ramsey, Vice-Pres.; Mr. Carl Dollins, Secretary; Mr. Jimmy Jenkins, Mr. Sylvester Dollins, Mr. Arthur Gardner, Mr. Joe Hillis, Superintendent. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION REORGANIZED DISTRICT NO. 4 Members of the Board of Education are committed to the policy of ’’best educational opportunities possible for children of the Neelyville area. Election to the school board automatically brings responsibilities, sacrifices and few rewards except the personal satisfaction one has when he has stood for the right as he Understands right and, most of all, when he can see con- crete evidence of the improvement in the quality of and facilities for educa- tion. The yearbook staff offers its appreciation to the men for their dedicated. unselfish service. SUPERINTENDENT S MESSAGE In years to come this pictorial history will serve as a reminder of the many happy school days and events enjoyed by you and your classmates. It will also serve to remind you of the time when you had the opportunity to prepare for a full and useful life. Youth is a fit time to absorb information; maturity is a fit time to use it. Too often, however, we neglect the opportunity afforded in youth, then spend the later years regretting that this favorable junction of circumstance was neglected. The world is full of opportunity. The people who have succeeded had no better chance than you. They succeeded because they saw opportunity, seized it, and hung on to it. Opportunity is the chance to do something, to get something, to achieve some- thing, to be somebody of value in the world. Meet opportunity when it comes toward you. If you wait until it passes, you will never catch it. My congratulations to Miss Rogers and the Journalism Class for an exception- ally fine yearbook. J. L. Hillis We, as teachers and parents recognize that we are help- ing to form tomorrow’s world through the teaching of the students shown in the annual. Whether or not we have done our work well will he determined by what you do as you go on through life. Kach of you has something different to contri- bute and no matter how small or insignificant it may seem it can be for the benefit of all. In a democracy, the schools belong to the people. The people of our community under the leadership of Mr. Hillis and the school board have shown great pride in this possession by making possible new and better school facilities for all students in our district. I know that you boys and girls of this school will show your appreciation for these efforts by working hard, by being good citizens, and by getting all the education you possibly can. May I express our appreciation to Miss Rogers and the yearbook staff members who assisted in the preparation of this yearbook. May it bring back pleasant memories to all of you. Mr. Fred R. Patty High School Principal My heartiest congratulations to the members of the class of 1964. As the years glide by and I watch each of you receive your diploma, I feel proud of your joy and accomp- lishments. I hope that each of you uses the many potentialities and possibilities that you have, so that you may do your share in building the character and leadership that are so necessary in this democratic, changing world of ours. I shall always cherish the memory of having some of you as my students. Mrs. Lois Bollheimer Secretary to Superintendent Mrs. Betty Whitaker, B.S. Ark.
