JOURNALISM CLASS As we turn the pages of this yearbook, it brings to mind many mem- ories of our past years at school, and also opens the doors of tomorrow. Officer 4 F.F.A. 2-3-4 Chorus 4 CLASS HISTORY Our Freshmen year in high school we chose for class colors, maroon and gold; class flower, white carnation; our motto is one we have kept through four years of school, “Aim High Time Flies.’ Officers were: President, Howard Abanatha; Vice-President, Betty Turner; Secretary, Dee Phillips; Treasurer, Kip Asher, and Janice Walters was our reporter. Mr. Sallis was our sponsor and Shirley Walters and Dee Phillips were selected to represent the Freshmen for Cotton Carnival King and Queen. Sponsors for our Sophomore year were Mr. McVey and Mr. Allen. Class colors, flower, and motto were not changed. Nancy Jackson and Jimmy Holloway were our King and Queen for the Cotton Carnival that Y0Q Shirley Penrod was class president; Jimmy Holloway, Vice-President; Gayle Taylor, Reporter; Secretary and Treasury, Nancy Jackson. The same class colors, flower and motto were held through our Junior year. Mrs. Green and Mr. McVey were our sponsors. Darlene Adams and Jimmy Holloway represented the class as King and Queen for the Cotton Carnival. The Junior play was a comedy, “Too Sweet for Sixteen. President was Gayle Taylor; Vice-President, Shirley Penrod; Reporter, Jimmy Holloway, and Nancy Jackson was Secretary and Treasurer. During our Senior year, Betty Turner accompanied by Jay Brickell were our candidates as King and Queen for the Cotton Carnival. Home Coming Queen was Gayle Taylor escorted by Jimmy Holloway. The Queen’s attendants were Betty Turner and Shirley Walters. A new flower, the pink carnation, and colors, blue and white, were chosen the last year. . Officers for the year were Gayle Taylor, President; Kip Asher, Vice-President; Shirley Walters, Reporter, and Nancy Jackson, Secretary and Treasurer.
