FACULTY The Needham Senior High School is fortunate in having a faculty of capable and friendly men and woincn who, through the years, have aided hundreds of students to secure their high school education. More than heing an instructor, how- ever,every one of the teachers has given much of his free time in service as a spon- sor and advisor for class projects, organizations, socials, and athletic activities, but above all, as a sympathetic and encouraging friend. The faculty of N. ll. S. is headed hy Mr. VVilliam lf. Pollard, principal for fourteen years. ln the linglish department with its four-year subject are the Misses Catherine E. Dodge. Louise l.. Steele. liva H. Churchill, and Margaret C. Kenney. The Language teachers are the Misses Ruth C. Harrington, French g Annie M. Currie, French and Lating and l.eita I.. Sawyer, German. The Science and lllathematics departments are under the direction of Mr. Charles li. Benton, Chemistry and l'hysicsg Miss Alice C. Gates, Biology, Miss Anna Tl. lfessenden and Mr. Asa M. Small, Mathematics. ' The Commecial and llusiness courses are taught hy the Misses Gertrude Lewis, Margaret A. Guthrie, and Mr. john lf. Nelson. The teachers of History and liconomics are the Misses lflorence li. llurgin, Mary li. Dugan, and Mr. lfred l.. Frost. The teacher of our Art department is Miss Norma Yietrie, and in llome lfcoa nomics and Manual Training are Miss Corinne Cowdrey and Mr. lirnest l. Pelletier, respectively. Mr. Vliilliam Fisher teaches the classes in Music and die rects the band, orchestra and girls' glee club. The extensive gymnasium work and S. A. A. sport activities are directed hv Miss Margaret lf. Carroll in the girls' section, and by Klr. l'hillip Claxton with the boys. ln the position of secretary rand general sympathizer and conlidantej is Mrs. lfdna lf. Slaney, known to every student at N.
