S ecretary During the 1957-1958 year the Senior Hi-Y sponsored many worthwhile projects in their effort to create, maintain, and extend, through- out the home, school, and community high stand- ards of Christian characterf' The sale of football pennants took place shortly after school began, and was a huge success. Just before Christmas the Hi-Y Telephone Directories were published, and the ensuing sale added a considerable sum to the treasury. Selling basketball pins at the be- ginning of the conference season helped to boost i'0peration Spirit and get the team off to a good start. By the end of February the script com- mittee had the parts assigned for the annual pro- duction of the Hi-Y Follies, and following the BILL P1ERsoN .... -. ............--- --TTQGSWQT ALLEN MILLAR ,,..,.. ...... S eTg9a'fLf-C115-ATTHS LYMAN FERRELL .................. .............. ...-- C h 1113161171 partly stag social, all the members, efforts were centered on this project. After the performance, before a full house, we added quite a sum to our growing scholarship fund. The Hi-Y scholarship, given this year in memory of a former member, George Beeker, was presented to an outstanding member of the senior class. Each Sunday the members of the club attended church in a group, and continually strived to pro- mote Hclean speech, clean sportsmanship, clean scholarship, and clean living. , With the help and guidance of our advisor, Farmer Smith, the Needham Broughton Senior Hi-Y enjoyed a most successful year.

Vice-President The 1957-58 Key Club of Needham Broughton High School undertook many projects to help the community around it. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh, the club had a most enjoyable and satisfying year. They provided the Kiwanis Club with a most enlightening program at the Hrst of the year, they sold drinks and programs at all the home basketball games, they helped with the local March of Dimes Drive in Raleigh. One of the most satisfying of all their projects was preparing an entire Christmas for a needy family. Among BILLY HUBBARD ....,.. ,..,,, S ecretmy ALLEN MILLAR ....... ........ ,,,,,. T T easurer the other projects were as follows: they helped the Kiwanis Club with their sale of newspapers to send kids to the beach, they presented indi- vidual trophies to the five most valuable players in the spring sports. However it was not all work as the boys held a dance for the entire school and their dates. Also, a most enjoyable social occurred for just the Key Club members. The first Sunday in each month the Jr. Class Hi-Y attended different churches as a group. The last month the club attended the church service at Duke University. During the Work year the president and vice- president attended the Hi-Y Convention which was held in Anderson, South Carolina.
