Homecoming Week Causes Excitement Homecoming 1977: School Pride and fun for all! The week began with Couples Day. !!Did you see who HE was walking with? All students were required to walk to and from classes with someone of the oppo- site sex. Tuesday was geared toward '!pride with an all-school cleanup. Each class succeeded in spifhng up the area to which they were assigned. Wood was gathered for the Friday bonlire. Wednesday a few brave members of Pep Club switched with teachers and taught their classes for the day. Cindy Keene and Kay Minister, teachers for Mrs. Bartleson, were seen running down the hall after their students shouting, 'tCome back! Come back! Thursday, people appeared from bygone days: bobbysocks, rolled up jeans and Dad's white shirt, or skirts with cashmere sweaters, not to mention ponytails and rouge. The 50's return to Nederland High! Slaves sold on Thursday were forced into service on Friday-!!Hey Slave! Get my lunch, and be quick about it! Spirits mounted at the pep assembly and bonfire, Friday, and enthusiasm carried through to Friday night's volleyball game against Byers, B-squad creamed the Bulldogs but Varsity lost their close, exciting match. Festivities began at 1:30 Saturday, Oct 8, with the football game against North Park. Panthers were defeated 12-6, although they put up a good hght. As King and Queen, Steve Jennings and Scarlett Delancy were honored with flowers and gifts at the Homecoming Dance. Their attendants were, juniors Paul Bennett and Lori Smith, and sophomores Jim McNally and Juanita Mavis. 6
