Mrs. Riley and Mrs. Wilson had the questionable honor of planning, preparing and serving meals five days a week. When you stop to consider What a difficult task it is to prepare meals for one family, you certainly can ap- preciate What our cooks must go through everyday. All of us frustrated cooks are envious of Mrs. Riley's and Mrs. Wilson's Wonder- ful ability and patience. Mr Davis Mrs, Riley L X Mrs, Wilson Neither rain nor sleet nor hail or snow can stop the mailman, is a familiar saying. We in Nederland have found out that it applies to school bus drivers too. Mrs. Schamens driving the bus to Tungsten, Mr. Slaughenhoupt driving to Sugarloaf, and Mr. Gardner driving to Coal Creek adher- ed faithfully to this rule. Some- how they managed to get through when some of us couldn't even get our cars out of the yard. As Mr. Davis could no doubt tell you, being custodian for a school is not all fun and frolic. Just when it ap- pears you have everything done -you find that some lit- erary genius has decided to write his masterpiece on the walls or on the desks. Before coming to Neder- land Mr. Davis was custo- dian at Fairview School in Boulder. Looking at this picture, an outsider would think it is just an ordinary break between classes. But, know- ing the kids as we do, our reactions to the picture went something like this: Kathy! Watch out for that door! Jerry, you'll never make it to class by staring up the hall! Don't worry, John, this day will end! Cheer up, Paul! You'll remember the combination about 3235! Congratula- tions, Chuck! You were only a period late in finding your chemistry book! ls this the way to do The Twist, Dale? What's on the floor that's so interest- ing, Roger, John and Danny? Why the frown, Gilbert? Were you last in line at the drinking fountain? Yes, Mrs. Langley, another Spanish class is on its way! 11
