Rushing, Registering and Ranting ' Round By VERA HARVEY Will you please take this to Miss Sloniger, the regis- trar? Mr. Judge, this atrocious freshman has committed the terrible crime of treading on the senior walk. What shall the penalty be? Will you come to our dinner Friday night? The quotations listed above were just a few of the ques- tions which made the lowly freshmen, as upperclassmen like to call them, wish they were facing the Siegfried line single-handed instead of experiencing the first few hectic days of school. Leaving no gap for homesickness, the Y. W. C. A. started activities this year with a new idea of Big Sisters (of course, for gals only). One of their main purposes was to help the new girls get settled. Their duties even included crawling out of bed at five o ' clock in the morn- ing to meet trains. The Big Sisters were dressed in white blouses, blue skirts, and wore arm badges of blue and white ribbons. Getting settled was abandoned for awhile by som e, for- ever by others, for the more important thing called registra- tion. In order to tide them through the hectic time (I ' m an upperclassman), they were entertained at a breakfast in the Campus Nook. Here they met different faculty mem- bers, heads of their departments. After the freshmen had finished their registration, the Big Sisters again assumed their duties and conducted a tour of the campus, displaying the various classrooms and labora- tories to aid the newcomers in finding classes when school really began.
