Qllmm Miztnrg-1513 1 The class of 1913 first appeared in the Wesleyan halls in the fall of 1909. With our great timidity, our great embarassment, our awkward manner of deportment, we gave little promise of the-great things that were to be done by our brain and brawn in later months and years. And that registration! Can it ever be forgotten? How we stood in line hour after hour waiting for the time to come when we would tell our life history and reveal our highest ambitions to a stranger. But through it all we never loosened our clutches on that cherished High School diploma, showing in this way of what unrelenting material we were made. After the tedious day was over, rumors of class organization were spread abroad. Frick Aden was chosen as the one to pilot us through the trying days of the first semester. It was during this time that the far renowned Fresh- men-Sophomore scrap and flag rush was won. After this, everything passed on smoothly until the close of school. When we returned to Wesleyan in the fall of 1910 we had a little better footing and equilibrium. By this time we had learned to talk glibly and intelligently, even to the Fac-V ulty at times. Our first honor was given us X EDNA THOMAS when we won in the inter-class debate. This 1 President First Semester spurred us onward and honor after honor fell to us that year. SUSAN BRODBOLL The n9Xt year we Were kT10'NVI1 as the Jolly Juniors. And we were not only jolly President Second Semester but brainy as well, for this year We had the business managers of both the Wesleyan Q and the Coyote, winner of the State Oratorical Contest, three of the Nebraska Wesleyan Male Quartette, three of the 'Varsity Debating Team, and two assistant Professors in our class. As we returned to our Work in the fall of 1912 a feeling crept over us, for we realized that for most of us our school days were nearly over. But this fact did not lessen our zeal, for this year we had the honor of having the Winner of the Rhodes Scholarship, winner of the State Prohibition Contest, president of both the Y. W. C. A. and Y. M. C. A. and many other distinguished people in our class. 4 ' 'E
