A Rounded Background in English Evelyn Winkelhake Audrey Fetty Lois Berger English is a vital part of our education. The well rounded courses in reading, writing, and spelling skills form the basis of almost all other fields we study. Speech and journalism, plus English fundamentals, add spice to the Sophomore courses. Juniors are busy throughout the year struggling with American Literature, in conjunction with television programs. The Seniors strive to learn more about their language from English Literature. Two years of Spanish are also available. Broadcasting the daily Pioneer News 10 Students prepare for English skit. Wild costumes are part of this skit.

Music and Art Develop Creativity Private lessons develop perfection Harmony and creativity add the polishing touches to the students of NCHS. Many early rising students participate in the very popular band and choir activities, as well as small group and solo work. These groups meet daily to prepare for contests, which they enter throughout the year. Math and Science Keep Us Thinking Lab is the fun part of Chemistry A basic understanding of science and math are important in today's space age world. The ability to understand equations and experiments may help the students to solve problems throughout their lives. Beyond ninth grade one more year of science is required, and for the more scientific-minded, three years are available. A choice of subjects include: biology, natural science, chemistry, physics, and physical science.
