The ability to understand the why of an equation or experiment may enable the student to solve some of the many problems he meets in other endeavors. Freshmen receive an introduction in general science. Beyond ninth grade one more year of science is required and for the more scientific-minded, three years are available. These subjects include biology and natural science, chemistry, physics, and physical science. Math courses available include Freshman math, algebra, general math, math essentials, geometry, advanced algebra, and trigonometry. Hey!1 I discovered how to draw a round circle. Well polished reading, writing, and spelling skills form the basis of almost all other fields of study. Freshmen courses are designed to add to the students' composition and reading skills. Speech and journalism plus English fundamentals add spice to Sophomore courses. Juniors are kept busy rediscovering America in American Literature and Seniors learn more about their own language from English Literature. Two years of French are also available. Carol Biere Jeanne Blatchford NCHS sees the need of comprehensive vocational and business courses as a sound foothold on the ladder of success. Non college-bound students all have a variety of courses to choose from to give them a start in the right direction. Agriculture is the basis of our Midwestern economy. A complete four years vocational course is provided for our Future Farmers of America. Metal shop, wood shop, advanced shop, plus mechanical drawing are industrial arts courses designed for the mechanically minded. The home is the backbone of our country and for NCHS girls there is a complete homemaking course a-vailable. Wm. Abernathy Jolene Eggen I guess 1 turned that corner too short—that pole shouldn't be there anyway.
