To be a member of the N.C.H.S. Letter-man's Club a high school boy must letter in one major sport. The annual Alumni Basketball Game, held Jan. 12, was a fundraising project for this organization. They acquire a portion on the profit needed to carry on their many activities from a coke machine placed in the dressing room. This club also sponsored a dance in the high school gym. Coach Oscar Smith is their sponsor. ROW ONE: Romjue, Thorne, Kohout, Dammast, Allen, Zimmers, Jensen, Tcten, Jones, Harrah. ROW THREE: Kelley, Vollman, Dukes, Russell, Witty, Chamberlain, Fields. ROW FOUR: Hoskins, Mead, Wright, Hillman, Goodman, Puppe, Neemann. Girls' Athletic Association began its year with thirty-five members. Any high school girl is eligible for membership. The purpose of GAA is to develop and promote athletic interests and activities, leadership in athletics, good sportsmanship, and a feeling of fellowship among the students. These girls meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 a.m. Members must participate in organized activities during meetings and other activities outside of school. Awards are given for outstanding members at the end of the year. Miss Mary Ellen Slack is the club's sponsor. ROW ONE: Pres., Mounce; Sec.-Treas., Wright; Vice-Pres., Goodman. The purpose of Future Nurses Club is giving high school students an insight into nursing and the whole vital field in which nurses work. At the same time it is helping by insuring that those who enter this field will have a full understanding of what their career will mean. The club met after school every second Tuesday of each month. During these meetings members discussed and reported on various aspects of the nursing field. The year was highlighted by the Annual Christmas Tea, December 11, sponsored by the Otoe County Medical Association. At this tea senior members and officers who qualified were presented with their F.N.C. pins. The group climaxed the year with visits to Lincoln General Hospital and University Hospital. Mrs. Burbridgc, president of the Otoe County Medical Association, serves members at the annual Christmas Tea. 26
