TWIRLERS: Karen Renken, Nichi Cress, Linda Neeley, Diann Eltiste, Sherry Mounce, Gayle Schreiter, Carolyn Freeman. The marching Pioneers of NCHS shouldered the task of providing musical entertainment for a vast number of students and guests. In September they participated in the Syracuse Marching Clinic and the Ak-Sar-Ben Marching Contest. During October they entertained at half-time shows at all home football games and traveled to Falls City to present the halftime entertainment for the game. In November the band marched in competition at the State Marching Contest in Lincoln. Under the direction of James Imig, the Concert Band presented the Winter and the Spring Concerts. The main feature of the Winter Concert was the presentation of Mr. Wesley Reist, professor ofWood-winds at the University of Nebraska, as guest artist. Several small groups also performed in musical recitals during the school year for the student body.

THIRD ROW: Wheatcraft, Fcnske, Tharp, Hespen, Allen, Dose, Hoeman, Haneline, Newby, Sackles, Jordan, Holmes, Prue, Wiles, Jay, Easter, Harrah, Jessup, Schottler, Roberts, Puckett. FOURTH ROW: Betts, Dammast, James, Fenske, Hall, Jones, Dammast, Phillips, Dwyer, Zimmers, Golden, Thorne, Dodge, Logan, Majors,Gray, Falk.Slemp, Ressique, Rowen, Moyer. The N.C.H.S. Choir is the largest organization in the school. Within the regular choir is the Inner Choir with 65 members and the Madrigals with 16 members. The choir also contains many small groups, duets, and soloists who participate in numerous school and community activities. The Choir presented the Christmas Vesper Service in conjunction with the speech and art departments. This program was held on December 16 in the high school auditorium. The Annual Spring Concert was presented in May. Miss Amelia Peterson, the director, meets with the group before school at 8 o’clock every Tuesday and Thursday morning. During the year, each vocal section presented a special program in the auditorium. The section leaders this year are Rosemarie Rowen, Georgia Warren, Jackie Eads, Delna Dodge, Bill Logan, Milton Romjue, and David Zimmers. This year an auditing board, composed of Mary Lou Adcock, Jane Schottler, and Darrell Huss, met with the director at regular intervals to check the books and the accounts. A very large project for the organization was a candy sale. The money from this project was used to purchase equipment for the Choir room. SUFFERERS: Jackie Freeman, Lydalou Neiman, Marcia Biere.
