Mrs. Barta, sponsor, and her editors - Livingston, Wright, and Jones. The Otoean, which is the NCHS school paper, marked its 42nd year of publication during the past year. The 18 staff members compile 12 issues throughout the course of the year. Part of the staff attended the National Press Association Convention in November at the University of Nebraska. Several individuals were awarded Quill and Scroll pins for their outstanding work in journalism. Classes are held 4th period each school day. Mrs. Florence Barta is the Otoean sponsor. Friday morning and the staff rushes to get their Otoeans to sell to the students. ROW ONE: Armstrong, Thiesfeld, Livingston, Dose, Barr, Dierking, Crume. ROW TWO: Zimmers, Wright,Gibbs,Carneal, Morton, Morton, Rowen, Everett. ROW THREE: Jones, Guhde, Golden, Wright, Jones, Knisely, Romjue, Duerfeldt.

ea r I? oo L Staff members work to meet their deadline. Editor Metcalf helps Larson, Wurtele, and Whitington plan a page. The Pioneer staff began its year with fifteen members. The group changed publishing companies and presented a summer delivery rather than a spring delivery. The summer delivery makes possible pictures and information concerning commencement, proms, class plays and other late spring events. The staff worked together as a team to meet each deadline. Fourth hour every day was the time set aside for work on the 1963 Pioneer; several evenings were also sacrificed by staff members. The staff composed entirely of Seniors was sponsored by Miss Jeanne Blatchford. is ROW ONE: Freeman, Paasch,Wieckhorst, Whitington,Schottler, Miss Blatchford-sponsor.
