Text from Pages 1 - 100 of the 1972 volume:

The Administration Building is one of the eight buildings on the campus of Nebraska Christian High School dedicated to the service of God and the education of young people. The solid foundation and the skyward look of this central Nebraska landmark are indicative of the philosophy of N.C.H.S.: the Bible as the foundation of all truth, and the exaltation of Jesus Christ as the foremost goal. _ ae mili “ eflector JOY WRIGHT Editor MARILEE JONES KEN COOPER Assistant Editor Business Manager DWIGHT BIRKLEY ERIC DAVIDSON Photographer Ass’t Business Manager JEANNE BOWLEY CEDRIC BOEHR Sophomore Representative Freshman Representative MISS TYBERG MR. In a world that is forgetting Christ, or making of Him just a handy concept, or of His name a religion, it is refreshing to find the evidences of God’s purpose of the ages. This purpose, of course, is bes t seen in man. This purpose includes man’s admission that God has foreordained and that He has a plan that includes man as a very vital part of the plan. Nebraska Christian High School is one of the cogs in God’s machinery which brings man to a place of understanding of Himself and His great plan. Students at this school are being exposed continually to God and His revelation of His purpose. All of this can be summed up in the theme of this annual, ‘That in all things He might have the preeminence.” We trust that the people and scenes depicted in this annual be a true representation of God's purpose. We invite you to enjoy reliving with us a year at N. C. —Walter O. Ediger Getting a view of Mr. Ediger’s new office Being a part of the administration has its ups and downs, just the same as being a part of anything else. But we often forget how much they really help us out. Accurate academic and financial records are kept of every student, and if someone ever wants to know what is next on the schedule, he needs only to go to the office counter. Certainly chaos would reign without people to handle the problems that come up. We thank God that these people have been used in different ways to influence our lives. We know everything is for a purpose in order that Christ might have preeminence in all parts of our life. Keeping the records straight. H. Kay Sawyer Principal Miss B. always Knows what time it is. We were all anxious for the completion of our last year. As the weeks went by, we became involved in many different areas of school life such as football, volleyball, cheerleading, and last but certainly not least, socializing. A short time later two senior boys ran for Senior Class officers: T. Hamilton, Student Rep.; R. Ballagh student body president, and many of us participated Secretary? D. Schumacher, Student Rep.; D. Shafer, Chapel Rep a wholeheartly, campaigning for the man of our choice. Honeywell, Treasurer; Mr. Johns, Sponsor; Mr. Calnan, Sponsor; D Ken Cooper won the election and began with prayer Oliphant, Business Mgr.; L. Johnson, President; K. Steffen, Vice for a successful year. President The House of Yesterday had quite a shaking up when all twenty-three of us came bounding in for a class ‘‘outing.’’ We spent the evening at a Grand Island park eating, feeding the ducks, and throwing things into the lake. A hat betrayed the cowboy in the group. Devotions ‘‘topped” our day together. Our senior pictures were returned to us just before Christmas, after many impatient trips to the office. December 14, an exciting presentation of Charles Dickens, “A Christmas Carol, ’ was given by the speech department featuring several seniors. Such things as ‘‘| don’t know what to do!” and “‘touch my robe!”’ were often heard thereafter in class. Alumni Day, we renewed old aquaintances, and friendships, and revived a courtship or two. The senior girls were victorious in volleyball, but in basketball the boys didn’t have that same luck. The senior girls proved their volleyball ability again as they were champions over all underclassmen at the dorm parties. Our class has never lost a girls’ volleyball game in the history of the dorm parties. Second semester, new students joined our class and filled the vacancies left by those who had departed. During the course of the year we voted in two presidents and three vice presidents, but surprisingly enough kept all the other officers the same. Spring brought a fresh look at old things taken for granted and sometimes ignored. A new outlook on life also began to form. Soon we would be out on our own making a go at life—a life which by no means would be easy, but with Christ in the center, we knew that all things were possible. Now, for me There you go ROGER!!! H. C. mowers with 9-ft. bars mounted on one tractor. Both mowers are the pitmanless balanced head type for smooth, fast operation. Rear mower is driven by a drive shaft through 2 right angle gear boxes Each mower bar is raised and lowered indi- vidually from hydraulic system of tractor. TRANSPORTATION IS NO PROBLEM It takes only seconds to change this trail mower from mowing position to transport position. To transport the mower, simply release the ball hitch on the front end of the tractor and hook to the ball mounted on the rear axle of the tractor, thus letting the mower trail directly behind the tractor. The two wheels on the trail mower are caster wheels and automatically assume the direction the mower is being pulled. (This Mowing Outfit can also be furnished with _ Ys 2 sy two 7 ft. bars instead of the two 9 ft.) Ready to be moved anywhere. Manufactured By Rowse Hydraulic Rakes Co., Inc. BURWELL, NEBRASKA 68823 22 Miles North of Burwell, Nebraska on Highway No. 11 Phone (308) 348-2276 “Rowse Hydraulic Rakes” Made in Sizes 16° - 20° - 24’ - 25’ - 28’ - 30° - 36’ - 42’ @ This rake is very flexible and merely floats over the ground, as the rake is carried by 5 wheels which are so arranged that uneven ground has little effect on the rake. This also protects the rake teeth from breakage. @ Another feature that protects the teeth is springs on the holddown, which absorb much of the shock and strain on the teeth. @ One double-acting hydraulic cylinder easily operates the rake. @ This is the rake that has made all other rakes obsolete, and has found favor with farmers and ranchers alike. Kake, in operating position TRANSPORTATION — NO PROBLEM It takes only seconds to change this rake from operating position to transport position. To transport the rake, the tractor is disengaged from the main tongue, which is then lifted to an upwardly position. The tractor is then engaged to a short tongue which is assembled to one of the end wheels. This wheel is locked in position by means of a pin when the rake is in operating position. (See picture at left.) The opposite end wheel locks in two posi- tions, one for raking, the other for transportation. The center wheels are caster wheels, and auto- matically assume the position the rake is being pulled. The rake is only about 8 ft. wide when be- ing transported, and can be pulled by car or pick- up at least 50 miles per hour.
