KAY SAWYER Acting Superintendent The theme that has been selected for this annua: taken from Rev. 3:8 is a very apt one. This book is to you an “Open Door” to the faces that became a fixed part of NCHS 1970-71. It is an “open door” to the activities and events of a school year that is now in history. Behind the scenes, NCHS 1970-71 was an “open door” of opportunity to the many who believe in and were willing to invest in Christian education on this campus. This annual is a pictorial record of that investment. It is only pictorial, however, since real fruits can hardly be pictured. Perhaps the most obvious and important ‘open door” was the one s et before the teen-agers who had open doors of opportunity in the academic, and more important, in the spiritual sphere of life. Enjoy this annual. Look and ponder. Praise and pray. Walter O. Ediger Miss Wiebe hits the books! Miss B. makes lots of noise! ROWSE “DOUBLE 9” MOWERS This is the mowing outfit that is finding favor with farmers and ranchers alike, featuring two |. H. C. mowers with 9-ft. bars mounted on one tractor. Both mowers are the pitmanless balanced head type for smooth, fast operation. Rear mower is driven by a drive shaft through 2 right angle gear boxes Each mower bar is raised and lowered indi- vidually from hydraulic system of tractor. TRANSPORTATION IS NO PROBLEM lt takes only seconds to change this trail mower from mowing position to transport position. To transport the mower, simply release the ball hitch on the front end of the tractor and hook to the ball mounted on the rear axle of the tractor, thus letting the mower trail directly behind the tractor. The two wheels on the trail mower are caster wheels and automatically assume the direction the mower is being pulled. (This Mowing Outfit can also be furnished with | th two 7 ft. bars instead of the two 9 ft.) Ready to be moved anywhere. Manufactured By Rowse Hydraulic Rakes Co., Inc. S. “Rowse Hydraulic Rakes” Made in Sizes 16’ - 20’ - 24° - 25’ - 28’ - 30’ - 36’ - 42’ @ This rake is very flexible and merely floats over the ground, as the rake is carried by 5 wheels which are so arranged that uneven ground has little effect on the rake. This also protects the rake teeth from breakage. @ Another feature that protects the teeth is springs on the holddown, which absorb much of the shock and strain on the teeth. @ One double-acting hydraulic cylinder easily operates the rake. @ This is the rake that has made all other rakes obsolete, and has found favor with farmers and ranchers alike. Rake, in operating position TRANSPORTATION — NO PROBLEM It takes only seconds to change this rake from operating position to transport position. To transport the rake, the tractor is disengaged from the main tongue, which is then lifted to an upwardly position. The tractor is then engaged to a short tongue which is assembled to one of the end wheels. This wheel is locked in position by means of a pin when the rake is in operating position. (See picture at left.) The opposite end wheel locks in two posi- tions, one for raking, the other for transportation. The center wheels are caster wheels, and auto- matically assume the position the rake is being pulled. The rake is only about 8 ft. wide when be- ing transported, and can be pulled by car or pick- up at least 50 miles per hour. Simple Mechanism changes to transportation position to be moved anywhere MANUFACTURED BY FREEMAN ROWSE SONS BURWELL, NEBRASKA 68823 22 MILES NORTH OF BURWELL, NEBR., ON HIGHWAY NO. 11 PHONE 348-2276 U.S. Patent No. 3,240,005 — Canada Patent No. 739,671 Checked in — Marta? Mr. McDermott for helping us at our meetings and being our sponsor for this year. . Joy, Ken, Eric, Ed, and Gala for working hard with us as the Reflector Staff. . Criss, and Colleen for writing the poems for us. . The many who gave us pictures and film and who cooperated in posing for pictures. . Mrs. Wright for letting the girls stay up late to work when necessary. . And everybody else who gave us ideas or helped us throughout the year. Thanks Again. Saget 2 Rep Roser ‘ig, REMEMBERS Your halls and paths are silent now, But not so long ago we know They rang with friendly shouts and laughter. Just pause a while, and you'll remember. The gym stands cold and seems forlorn And the track so empty in the early morn. No pounding tread that of late had been But of meets and games—we remember them. No sound of singing now greets our ears, But this was heard all through the year. No more “‘not-so-perfect” practices— Just one more thing this campus misses. The dorms seem lonely and even lost, For these knew Life here, more, more than most, They saw the fights and heard the noise; Knew our pains and shared our joys. No more the swish of turning page And studies and work that made us age Past are the nights we burned the midnight oil But remember—it wasn't all work and toil. Yet, wait a bit, we've quite forgot God too was here, was he not? Each day and night in big and small His love and care was over all. This that so many called their home Stands quiet and peaceful and all alone. The year is done, and we've all gone; But the memories we cherish will linger on. AUTOGRAPHS py pA f ] 4 ih The End!
