PREPARATIONS FOR ADVANCED SCHOOLS COLLEGE BOARD CLUB Miss Elizabeth Sloat assists the members of the College Board Club in preparing themselves for the college board examinations, which are given an¬ nually for the purpose of college acceptance. Mem¬ bers of the club pictured above are answering sample test questions as a basic preparation. MATH CLUB The Math Club, directed by Miss Eva Lazorack, explores the areas of mathematics not touched upon in daily class activity. These areas consist of ad¬ 79 vanced procedures of general mathematics, algebra, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and basic college math.

PREPARATION FOR WHEN WE SURFACE FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Future Homemakers of America, who are under the supervision of Miss Nancy Miller, meets every Thursday during the eighth period. The purpose of the club is to study the principles of homemaking and to offer the student an oppor¬ tunity to acquaint himself with the various fields of home economics. Their aim is to create a better understanding of basic skills of homemaking. The activities of this Club includes going on various field trips and having people come in to speak and to give demonstrations. FIRST AID CLUB The First Aid Club, under the supervision of Mrs. Scott, meets every Tuesday during the eighth period. The purpose of this club is to prac¬ tice emergency treatments that ap¬ ply to drowning, wounds, and bleeding. The students practice on each other. HOMEMAKING AND HOBBY CLUB Homemaking and Hobby Club members, under the direction of Mr. Brock, develop hobbies and fundamental knowledge of home fixtures. 78

FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA Future Teachers of America, under the direction of Mrs. Graver, meet every Wednes¬ day. The members make frequent visits to colleges, have teachers speak on various top¬ ics, and discuss problems that may face teachers. The purpose of this club is to persuade students to enter the field of teaching. CHESS CLUB The Chess Club, advised by Mr. Quentin Zell, meets every Tuesday, Wednes¬ day, and Thursday. The veteran players comprise an interscholastic chess team that competes in the Penn-Jersey League.
