UNDER NEW COACH Kneeling: Paul Elkins, Robert Scobo, William Stock- las, Jim Riefenstahl, Dale Sandt, Raymond Greene, Richard Buss, Francis Donnelly. Standing: Coach Marlyn Roth, Barry Smith, Neal Sprague, David Bowers, Samuel Werkheiser, George Jones, Kenneth Stimmel, Warren Snyder. J. V. Cheerleaders reading clockwise: Mary Louise Seyfried, Edythe Browne, Peggy Jo Betz, Carol Yeisley, Diane Schlegel, and Nancy Letson. Starting 1959 with an entirely new coach¬ ing staff, coaches Mel Kessler and Marlyn Roth led the Varsity and JV Blue Eagles through a smashing season. With a record of 11 wins and only 11 losses, the Varsity Eagles became top contenders in the Lehigh- Northampton League. The Blue Eagles top goal ace was Kenneth Butz. Also with a tremendous record of 17 wins and 5 losses, the Nazareth JV’s breez¬ ed through the season with little trouble. The leading JV ace was Neal Sprague. Although dropping seven out of thirteen games in the first half, the Eagles were beaten only four times by Lehigh-Northamp- ton League teams. Nazareth ended the first half in fourth place. Making a strong second half start, Naza¬ reth won three games in a row before being defeated by Phillipsburg. Nazareth’s second half record was 5 out of 8 with only 3 league game defeats. The Eagles placed 3rd in the second half league competition.
