CHARGE TO VICTORY Coaches Christman, Amoroso, Owens, and Leh Although plagued by numerous threats, Nazareth concluded the sixth game of the season by defeating Pen Argyl 13 - 0. Kenny Shook scored a Nazareth touchdown on a pass from Dick Garr and Fred Keim scored the second on a 71 yard run. The four game winning streak came to an end when a rugged Bangor eleven trounced the Blue Eagles 20 - 0, at Bangor. Passes were responsible for most of the Nazareth yardage. Because the eighth game of the season was cancelled, the Eagles traveled to North¬ ampton on the following Monday where the Koncrete Kids stopped them 40 - 0. The Eagles had one touchdown run which was nullified because of a penalty. For the second last game of the season, Nazareth again was thrown for a 21 - 0 loss by a strong Eastburg team. Most of Naza¬ reth ' s yardage was gained by the passing of Lynn Rothrock. With high spirits and determination, the Blue Eagles on Thanksgiving Day ended the 1959 season by flattening the Warriors of Wilson Borough 20 - 0, at Easton ' s Cotting- ham Stadium. Starting the game with a bang”, Naza¬ reth fumbled on the game ' s first play with Wilson recovering. Wilson failed in their attempt to take advantage of the situation and after an exchange of punts, the Eagles made a serious drive, moving from their own 26 to Vilson’s 38 where they ran out of gas, losing the ball on downs. Playing in their final season for Nazareth we have the following Seniors: KNEELING: Coach Christman, Harold Keller, Joseph Csernak, Joseph Merola, Dale Kratz, Edward Temos, George Allen, Frank Franczak; STANDING: Stan Konya, Charles Bracken, Robert Arndt, Kenneth Shook and Richard Garr.

Nazareth’s two touchdowns were credited to Jeff Marsh, with the remaining two points scored on a touchback. Hellertown, the defending League champions, proved one week later that they were a team to contend with as the downed the Blue Eagles 20 - 14. Lynn Rothrock scored the first Nazareth touchdown and a 95 yard punt return by Bob Freeman ended the home team’s scoring. For the first away games of the season Nazareth invaded Whitehall where they out¬ played the Zephyrs” to the tune of a 19 - 6 score. Jeff Marsh was responsible for two of Nazareth’s touchdowns, while Lynn Roth¬ rock threw a touchdown pass to Bobby Arndt to climax the scoring. The four scor¬ ing drives by Nazareth were made by Fred Keim, Jeff Marsh, Lynn Rothrock and Bob Arndt. Next in line was Palmerton, a hitherto unbeaten team. The Blue Eagles, led by Fred Keim, dumped the Blue Bombers 27 - 7. Fred Keim, scoring two of the Nazareth touchdowns, received help from Bob Roth and Dick Garr in the win.
