OUR GUIDING LIGHT Mr. Robert Reichard and Mr. Broni Krisukus discuss outstanding guidance cases. Through our guidance department students are given the opportunity to plan college careers and future vocations. This guidance program is carried on through a series of interest tests, scholarship tests, individual interviews, and career conferences. By these various methods students are given abetter understanding of their abilities and interests. Our guidance staff consists of Robert Reichard and Broni Krisukus. Robert Reichard also ad¬ vises the Junior class and Student Council be¬ sides his duties as a guidance counselor. He graduatedfromKutztownState Teacher ' s College with a E.A. andfrom Lehigh University with a M. A. Broni Krisukus serves as Home and School Visitor. College boards are admin¬ istered to junior and senior students throughout the nation for the purpose placement of opportunity for entrance into college. Mr. Thomas Mitten advises students during College Night. 8

WORLD EVENTS - PAST AND PRESENT In the Social Studies department students are taught to appreciate the past and present and to look forward to the future. After completing the available courses they are most capable of solving their own prob¬ lems. Studying mistakes of peoples in the past enables a student to prof¬ it in his own right. Pictured to the right are: Augustine Weinhofer who teaches World History and Instrumental Music , sponsors the Majorette Club and the Band. Mr. Weinhofer received his A.B. from Muhlenberg College, his M. A. from Lehigh University and currently is studying graduate music at Temple University - Richard Schmoyer, in¬ structor of World History, American History and Problems of Democracy and adviser to the Comet; graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College with a B.S. and New York University with a M. A. - Mrs. Miriam Zell, instructor of American History and sponsor of the Dramatic Club; graduated from Susquehanna University with an A.B. - Melvin Kessler, a recent addition to the SEATED: Augustine Weinhofer, Mrs. Miriam Zell, Quentin Zell; STANDING: Richard Schmoyer, Melvin Kessler. teaching staff, teaches World History and Sophomore English and coaches the basketball team. Mr. Kessler graduated from Muhlenberg College with an A. B. - Quentin Zell, teacher of Problems of Democracy and Blue and White adviser received his A. B. from Moravian College and his M. A. from Lehigh Univer¬ sity. Commentator Ann Shekletski reports to the Problems of Democracy class on news of the day as Mr. Zell looks on. An American His¬ tory class drama¬ tises colonial re¬ sistance to the In¬ tolerable Acts. Mr. Kessler shows the class in World History the location of ancient Egyptian civilization.
