Piloti Superintendent F. A. Marcks dictates to his secretary, Mrs. Margaret Shekletski. Besides serving as superintendent of the Nazareth Borough School District, Mr. Marcks has been the chief administrative and supervisory officer of the joint school since the inception of the six-district jointure of 1950. In addition to his responsibilities as chief executive officer of the Joint Board, he serves as adviser to the board in all matters pertaining to the new area high school building now under construction. He coordinates the contributions of the professional staff and works closely with the architect and the State Depart¬ ment of Public Instruction in an effort to make the new senior high school an up-to-date functional building for a type of educational program best suited to this com¬ munity. In recognition of his 46 years of loyal and devoted service to the schools and the community, the board in May of 1954 voted to name the new area high school The F. A. Marcks Building, in his honor. Dr. Lee Graver, principal, dictates to Mrs. Elaine Doyle, his secretary. As principal of the Nazareth Area Senior High School, Dr. Lee A. Graver prepares student and teacher schedules and supervises instruction and the numerous extra-curricular activities. This year the thesis that Dr. Graver wrote to obtain his doctorate degree, A History of the First State Normal School, was published in book form by the Millersville State Teachers College. 5

Unangst, Nazareth Nazareth Area Joint School Committee Formed to combine the resources and provide better facilities for the six districts — Bushkill Township, Lower Nazareth Township, Nazareth Borough, Stockertown Borough, Tatamy Borough, and Upper Nazareth Township — the joint board approves budgets and selected the site on which the new building is being erected. Working with the superintendent, the joint board has devoted many hours and much study to this project in an effort to bring about a better secondary school situation than has ever existed before in this area.
