School affairs in Nazareth are handled by a School Board composed of seven members elected by the people. The hoard meets the first Monday of each month, and may call special sessions when necessary. It is their duty to have general supervision of the schools in the district, appoint the superintendent, levy school taxes, approve and administer the budget, and supervise the purchase of supplies for all schools in the district. CLAUDE P. ABBOTT Claude Claude is having a lonesome time at school this year because his O. A. O. has graduated. Volleyball and basketball seem to be his favorite sports, but he is handy at any sport that comes along. School work and Claude aren't good friends, but he usually manages to get along. Baseball 1; Basketball, J. V. 1, Varsity 2. FRANCES L. ALTEMOSE Fran This fair-looking senior from Tatamy doesn’t know the meaning of the word quiet. Fran was a wonderful saleswoman and a helper on the business staff of the Comet. Her main interest is in a certain fullback from room 31. Fran hopes to become a nurse in the future. Comet, Business 3; Glee Club 1. KATHLEEN M. ALTEMOSE Kathy “Yea! yea! team!” yells Kathy, our head cheerleader, cheering the team to victory. As Barbara in the senior play, Kathy also proved that she has talent in dramatics. Her cheery smile and pleasant personality have won her many friends. Senior Play, Minor 3; Cheerleader, J. V. I, Varsity 2, 3; Dramatic Club 2, President 3; Photography Club, President 2; Prom Committee 2; Student Council, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer 1. LEE L. ALTEMOSE Joe Don’t let Lee’s looks deceive you, because he is not so quiet as one would think. Lee seems to enjoy teasing the girls in Lab. He enjoys all sports, espe- cially basketball. Lee does fairly well in his studies and, whatever his vocation may be, we know he will make good in it. Forum Club 3. JEAN APPLEGATE Jean Jean, the only auburn-haired girl in the senior class, is quiet and reserved. You never catch her carrying on a conversation in study or in class. Her biggest obstacle in school is typing. Listening to popular music is one of her favorite pastimes. The future seems indefinite for this commercial student. Dramatic Club 3. 6
