Sister Blanche Q lheresa Garstkal Sister hlarie Qlrene Kornowskal The Young Dancer CGeorgina Bakerl pays mock homage to Blanche, Goddess of Reason, while the knitters weave the names of the doomed in Nladame Defarge fashion. The annual play, SONG AT THE SCAFFCLD, climaxed months of study and coaching, of sewing of costumes, and of preparing props. The story of sixteen Carmelite nuns, guillotined during the French Revolu- tion, the drama is centered on the life of the timid Sister Blanche de la Force, who fearing religious persecution. leaves the convent only to become part of the blood-thirsty mob. ln the end, however, Blanche voluntarily accepts the fate at the scaffold that befell her Sisters, bravely taking up their song and singing it to the last. as wiv' ' Reverend Mother f CAlice BudnaD ' T F4 L2 Sister Constance Ceraldine lNlcKennaD S2 l Reverend Mother CAlice Budnal passed Le Petit Boi to Sister Constance CGeral- dine Mcliennal at the traditional Christ- mas ceremony in Carmel.

This being only our second year in the Academic League, composed of the private academies of Phila- delphia, we are building a strong foundation for N.A.'s future bas- ketball teams. Under the diligent supervision of Miss Ann Spellman we are constantly adding points to our credit.
