Honor Society The‘Honor Society is composed of a group of students who excel in their academic studies. To be a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society a student must receive all B ' s or better on his report card for two consecutive terms. If this is accomplished the student ' s name is then brought up before the faculty and voted on. In addition to his scholastic record, the student ' s character, service and participation in school activities and qualities as a leader are taken into consideration. If he re¬ ceives a unanimous vote from the faculty, he then receives an application for member¬ ship into the society. A student is admitted with the understanding that he must keep his marks up and failure to do this will result in an automatic suspension from the soc¬ iety. In Orleans High School there are two divisions of the Honor Society; the Junior Soc¬ iety, consisting of those in the eighth through tenth grades who receive honors, and the Senior Honor Society composed of those students who receive honors in the eleventh and twelfth grades. An impressive investiture cere¬ mony with the faculty and parents as guests is held each spring and fall to admit new members. Member¬ ship in the society is not only an honor but a mark of noteworthy a- chievement. r
