Bill Curry Ruth Francis President Sec.-Treasurer John Masek Walter Kingham Vice-President Sponsor SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Ah, at last! says this venerable old sundial. The class of '50 has finally reached its goal. I have indicated life's passing moments for a good many years now. Do you mind if I lose myself in the colorful past? HWell do I remember the day when the class first trooped in, a group of growing, happy young- sters. Rather awed by the imposing structure of NCI-IS at first, they soon came to know its many corners and halls, and with familiarity came friend- ship. Yes, even in their freshman year they gave many foreshadowings of the future triumphs that would be theirs. With Don Swantonwas their leader, the freshmen of '46 progressed rapidly toward their goal-graduation. Ruth Lesley reigned over the Co-ed Ball with Sue Holley as princess. Hln their sophomore year the group chose Melvin Smith as their leader. The sophomores spent a relatively quiet year in preparation for becoming upperclassmen. Juniors! Now the class was going to get down to brass tacks. Knowing the many tasks ahead of them, they decided that Lyle Covington was capable enough to lead them through this eventful year. Under the sponsorship of Miss Virginia Rose and Mr. Tom Dougherty, the class gave a chance for the hitherto hidden talent to come to the fore by pro- ducing the stage play Dreams of Deleriumv, ac- claimed by critics to be nearly professional. Having done this task well, they proceeded to decorate for the traditional Junior Prom in keeping with the theme Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Carl Ginet finally decided to make public one of his many talents, and won the state Voice of Democracyi' contest. Bill Curry, Bill Murane, and Carl also distinguished themselves at debate while Bob John- son achieved honors at a music festival in Oregon. Well pleased with Lyle Covington's leadership, the class accorded to this football hero the honor of being Student Body President. Choosing from the many capable' boys and girls was diificultg however, Carl Ginet was elected Boys' Vice, and Marion Lybyer became Girls' Vice. Senior Class President turned out to be Bill Curry. Rachel Ikard and Carl Ginet reflected more glory on the class by being sent to Washington as representatives of Girls' State and Boys' State, respectively. Sue Holley was crowned Mustang fcontinued on page 821
