Page 16 THE GUSHER M. I A, it 4 . .M .,, as get . 5 Qs ? I qi K t X , THE BOARD OF EDUCATION By R. S. HlcKs l'resident lli-txkv H. Pixrritrzsnx Clerk - - J, ll. .'xRI!l'L'Kl.lC Treasurer --------- ,5xI.l5l-IR'l' PARK The Board of Education is the supreme agency of our people in respect to public education. There are three functions which every school organization should accomplish: Legislative or policy making, executive or the placing of policies in operation, and ap- praisal or that function which attempts through careful examination and study of facts and conditions to determine the efficiency of the executive function. The lloard of Edu- cation exercises the legislative and appraisal functions but delegates the executive function to a trained executive who is charged with the responsibility for advising ways and means of executing efficiently the educational policies of the Board, Thus, our lloard of liduca- tion adopts educational policies, selects the professional executive and delegates to him the operation of the Boards plan, provides the financial means, and appraises the results of the working of the plan. No group of people should appreciate more than the high school student body the very fine and efficient services of our Board of Education. Hours and hours of the very valuable time of its members are consumed each month in deliberating on matters per- taining to our best interests. lfach member is an individual of recognized standing in the community as to civic interests as well as business ability and personal integrity. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to our lloard of lidncation. o ---- 1933 ---- 0
