The governing unit, the Student Council, is comprised of three oiiicers-the president, vice president and secretary. The coun- cil, aided by a proctor and monitors from each regeney, handles all disciplinary cases within the regency unit. The proctors are elected twice a year and the monitors every month. This system helps to develop in the members of the class a sense of responsibility and a knowledge of working democracy as applied to our daily lives. +24 87 E+ EMMA I. S1ssoN Sponsor

jllwbfz ffgzma 45cwcW292 A far-reaching intluence on the school life are the eight sororities. Since the founding of Chiopi, the first sorority, in 1894, they have become the centers of campus activity. Each one has a different architectural plan and is an entirely independent organization but they are bound together by a common purpose-to develop a more vital interest in academic and recreational activities and to encourage a deeper school spirit. Through active membership in them, the girls become gracious hostesses and more capable leaders. They learn to know one another bette1', to respect each other's rights and opinions, and to work together in a spirit of cooperation and loyalty. The inter- sorority competitions in athletics, citizenship, and scholarship stimulate enthusiasm and effort in these fields. 5 134. - , Each sor01'ity is guided by an advisor, who Ll' fgl l f' i acts as a mother not only to the sorority as a whole, but to each girl as an individual. Every girl who enters National Park finds in these associations deep and lasting memories of fine friendships and experiences. ELIZABETH CRAWFORD Havrmux Sponsor si so
