From Our Girls' Vice Principal As music recreates in sound some of life's significant moments, in days to come your year book will play again for you the record of your school days. May the memories of Narbonne it brings back be happy ones for all of you. ELIZABETH PARKS From Our Boys' Vice Principal Summer Class of 1953 You have now finished the first big step in your formal education. Some will pursue a higher education in college, but the majority of graduates will be entering the competitive world of adults. The past 12 years were spent in preparing you for a useful and enioyable life. We hope that these long years have been truly a fruitful, sentimental iourney for you. Your class of Summer '53 is the pro- duct of 318 years of public school edu- cation on America. Throughout this time there have been many changes in organ- ization, techniques, and methods of teaching, but there has been little change in our fundamental ideals. If I were a teacher I would Change all school rules. I wouldn't make anyone come to school too early. I would make all the water fountains three flavors of soda pop-orange, lime, and strawberry. I wouIdn't give anyone homework, because I would give them all period to do their work. I would Ioan out my answer book to anyone who wanted to use it. In the summer time I would let all the kids come to school bare-footed or in their swim suits. I would have school start at 9:00 A. M. and dismiss at 12:00 noon just in time for lunch. For physical education we would do whatever we wanted. In the summer we would go to the beach. During the cold winter months we would go on trips, by bus and train, and see all the interesting sights. Then in May we would get out of school for vacation until December.
