VARSITY PUUTB LL Some people would say that the 1949 football sea- son was a flop. Other people would say that it was the worst season Hale ever had. These people would be wrong. The 1949 season brings up the old discussion of what makes a sucs cessful season. If one counts success by totaling Hale'5 victories, the season looks badg but if one judges the season by courage, scrappiness, and determination to win, Hale will stand out as a champion. The 1949 gridiron team was handicapped from the start by lack of size, depth, and experience. Even this did not stop the Huskies, and powerful Tosa will long remember how the Huskies led for three periods only to be beaten by their own injuries.
