Ms Yellin can be found helping students and teachers in the Social Studies and Language Arts sections, Her other duties include keeping an eye on the students, organizing the vertical .g...., 5 'H 6 Hle, and doing other work in the library that needs to be done. 5. Rochelle Gayton: Emphasis on multi-cultural activities was Rochelle Ga yton is goal as a senior at Hale. Rochelle decided that an organization for the black students would be beneHcial for the students who are not usually involved in activities. There are not enough activities concerning all the students said Rochelle. For these reasons, Rochelle was the founder of the Black Awareness Council. Besides this accomplishment, Rochelle was the chairperson of the Election Committee and also had been a statistician for boys basketball 3 years. 6. These are people who, with their original ideas and subsequent supportive action have kept the old traditions at Hale alive, and at the same time instigated new traditions through creative and active thinking. These people, with their activities in and outside school, help us learn more about ourselves and about the people around us. We ha ve tried to touch everyone, but Nathan Hale is a big school, so surely we ha ve missed some who should and will be recognized more on a personal level by all who know them. I. John Mele: Actor, comedian, scholar. He has worked as a yell leader, and has had leading or semi-leading roles in every school production in the past three, years. 66 PHOTO ESSA Y l7P OPLE WHO 2 3 John has also been known to search for UFOs, make disgusting faces, and interview rabbits on KNCH-TV, antics which have, in a sense, taken over the program. Where does a senior who has played the lead in more productions both in and out of school than he can count on his fingers and toes, who thinks up all of his material in the shower, and who admittedly tries to steal the show each time he steps on stage-where does he go from here? 2. Sue Foster: The amount of activities that Sue Foster involves herself in far exceeds what a student would normally volunteer to do. Sue was very active as chairperson of the Senior Breakfast, Senior Cruise, ASNH Bulletin and the Christmas Family Committees. She was a host for a Japanese Exchange student and also found time to manage the cross country team and be captain of the swim team. Although Sue is constantly busy, she seems to keep up a positive attitude. 3. Eugene Onishi: Eugene is involved in activities both inside and outside of school. He has been involved with cross country, track, Asian Student Coalition, band,

His sense of humor, enthusiasm and knowledge in his Held rellects on the students and seems to make them more enthusiastic about his class. Mr. Burke has also been very involved as the coach for the girls softball team, 8. Dennielle Dent: Bubbling with energy, anyone can almost read the enthusiasm as she greets you in the hall. From the start, she decided to get involved in various activities: 88 PHOTO ESSA Y 10 I she likes the chance to meet people and it adds a bit of spice to life. She has been working hard as the Vice President of ASNH for 79, but this doesn't complete her activities. She has also been on Raider Rousers for three years as well as the soccer and swim teams. She is also co-chairperson of YDD, and the Senior Reunion Committees. So next time you see her in the halls, flook lowj ask her how she does it. 9.
