Foreword Scattered throughout these pages you will find lines from our Alma Mater' that are particularly significant to certain phases of our school life. The newly adopted Alma Materf' theme of the 1953 Cliimjuajlin, is the result of a school-wide project this year. Over two hundred students submitted words to the chosen air of a beautiful old folk tune. Prom these a faculty committee chose and combined lines of the lyrics sub- mitted by Edna Dale Adams, Russell Anselmo, Claudia Brown, Virginia Miller, Mike Murphy, Ethelyn Seroggins, and Charlotte Sibley, The staff is happy indeed to honor- The N.H.S. Dedzkation Throughout our high school years, the help and understanding of our teachers are important factors, factors without which these years would be almost insurmountably difficult. In the future we, the 1953 students of N.H.S., will recall one member of our faculty whose traits of helpfulness and understanding are constantly evident: his will- ingness to devote his spare time to keeping the sound and picture equipment functioningg his painstaking choice of interesting, worthwhile films for our enjoyment and benefitg his wholehearted support of our various school activitiesg his never-failing presence at athletic eventsg his refreshing sense of humorg the clarity of his teachingg his sympa- thetic, untiring patience in all his dealings with us.
