Pi’s 9 l ' 9 o. 9. a w J ) ryuUJ An UjUL u Q tnti ustSLas ' Lucile Stone Riegel Lucile Stone Riegel, 92, of Route 1, Brookneal, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 31, 1993, at Berry Hill Nursing Home in South Bos¬ ton. She was the wife of the late John Jacob Riegel. She was born in Campbell County May 25, 1901, daughter of the late Charles B. Stone and Cal- lie Rosser Stone. She was a mem¬ ber of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a mem¬ ber of the WMU. She loved people and provided an example of true s ervice to oth¬ ers throughout her life. She did this through individual acts of compassion and by being active in many community affairs, in¬ cluding the Woman’s Club, the DAR, Future Homemakers of America, Future Farmers of America and the Association of Retired Teachers. She taught science and home economics in the Campbell County school system for many years. She is survived by two daugh¬ ters and sons-in-law, Anne R. and David L. Merricks of Brookneal and Evelyn R. and John B. Bell of Rustburg; one brother, Burnley T. Stone of Roanoke; three grand¬ children, David M. Merricks of Goochland, Karen M. Bishoff of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., and J. Marc Merricks of Brookneal; also five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be con¬ ducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Johnny Roberts. The family will be at the home of David and Anne Merri cks in Brookneal. Memorials may be made to the Patrick Henry Boys Plantation or Ebenezer Baptist Church. Henderson Funeral Home, Brookneal, is in charge of arrang¬ ements.
