THE MARINER’S LOG Reflecting on our years at NHS, one can only come away with feelings of pride and a tinge of sadness. Pride comes from knowing that one day in our lives we will all meet with success; which is our reward for the education we’ve gained personally and as a whole. How can we forget our Freshman year? There was the ex- citement of being in high school but also the hardship of trying to fit in with the upperclassmen. We were led by our President — Lori Bessacini, Vice-President — Stephanie Huckins, Secretary — Debbie Lindewall and our Treasurer — Julie Eldridge. Stephanie Huckins represented the Freshman Class that year during Homecoming and our float was recognized as one of the better ones. The Sophomore year was a success for us. Our leaders had not changed from the previous year, nor had our Homecoming representative. Among our activities were the pre-victory dance and the selling of Easter bunnies. Our Junior year was yet another milestone. There was ex- citement as we proudly showed off our class rings. The officers for that year were: President — Lori Bessacini, Vice-President — Stephanie Huckins, Treasurer — Joanne Carter, and Secretary — Kelley Nelson and Debbie Lindewall. For this

JUNE 1984 MARITIMES N.H.S. ANNUAL A Letter From the Editor Attempting to sum up everything that has happened in our school over the past year is indeed a difficult task for anyone. Even harder still, is the task of capturing that very special quality that our senior class possesses. As editor of the Maritimes, I have gratefully accepted this challenge with the hope that I, with the help of others, can create for you a keepsake in which you may carry the fond memories of high school forever. I also wish that this yearbook will effectively cap- ture many of the unforgettable moments that our class has shared during our time here, at Nar- ragansett High School. In this position, I have been fortunate enough to be able to witness the growth and changes of this class in a unique and valuable perspective. Over the past four years, being a member of the Maritimes staff, I have grown to know many members of our class in both a social and personal manner, which has enabled me to more accurately illustrate their character in this book. I hope that you will find this annual to be a worthy reflection of our life and times here at Nar- ragansett High School. So, with this sentiment in mind, let this yearbook bear witness to the accomplishments and spirit of our seniors — The Class of 1984. The Class of 1984 Homecoming our representative was Lisa Bradley. We then had our Variety Show, directed by Gina Sauro and Wendy Broome. But the highlight was of course, the Junior Prom held at the Meadowbrook Inn. Now we are at the threshold of our future — Senior year. We've had the usual worries; SAT’s, research papers and col- lege. We’ve come to value our friendships and ourselves because in a few short months we will be considered alumni. To lead our final year, we had: President — Lori Bessacini, Vice- President Michael McGwin, Treasurer— Mark Casey, and Secretary — Debbie Lindewall and Donna Meehan. Because of all our hard work this Homecoming, we finally won the con- test for best float. How could we lose with Mike Owens as our Baby New Year? The Senior Prom will be held at the Dunes Club, as has been the tradition. We owe Mr. Dubilewski much graditude. Saying goodbye will be the hardest thing to do. All the smiles and all our tears will become a blur but those we’ve come to know will always remain a special part of our lives. The world now awaits us and somehow we’ll be prepared thanks to all the strength and love found within our class — the Class of 1984.
