HE purpose of the Legion of Decency movement is to awaken in students a sense of personal re- sponsibility in promoting better movies, radio and TV programs, songs and comic books. Under the guidance of Miss Loretta Pfennig, Nardin students took an active part in the movement both at the downtown meetings and at the school. At these meetings the represent- atives discussed ways of promoting bet- ter movies in accordance with the poli- cies of the Legion. They tried to influence theater managers to consider children and youth in the planning of their pro- ams. Weekly school saving teaches the girls habits of econ- omy and gives them a feeling of self-reliance . The students are encouraged to deposit small amounts weekly rather than occasional large amounts, to fos- ter in them the habit of regular saving.
