Contests . . . Athletic A very special pep session precedes the sectional tourney. After a few words by the coach, players are introduced and invited to speak briefly about their hopes for the big contest. Richard Wright, Eddie Foster, james Brunso, Vance Lopp, Larry Lakins, Gerald Mattern, and Thomas Conrad have spoken very briefly. Speech The winners of the speech contest sponsored by the junior Chamber of Commerce are be' ing presented with their awards by Mrs. Lucy Miles, First prize winner, Philip Lehman, ref ceived a radio, and pens were presented to Kathleen Hahn and Linda Chandler, second and third prize winners res' pectively. Essay Mrs. john Geyer is present' ing these students with the money and awards they won in the V.F.W. essay contest, America, the Beacon of Hope.
