The History of the Class of '63 In September, 1959, we, the class of '63, took our first walk through the hallowed halls of N.H.S., trembling all the way and getting pushed aside by upperclassmen. During the year, the class was directed by Tom Cuff, president, Dave Dietrich, vice president, Ralph Nutter, secretary, and Pam Conrad, treasurer. Our main effort was a Bottle of Lestoil, the Homecoming float. Carolyn Prior was the freshman attendant at the Home- coming events. With one year's experience, the class assuredly proceeded. Our elected sophomore class officers were Tom Swearingen, president, Dave Dietrich, vice president, Judy Winzeler, sec- retary, Tom Cuff, treasurer. Again the main proiect was the Homecoming float, a balloon representing the world and the saying Let's Send B. G. Around the World. This float was an improvement over the freshman float, however, the balloon fell over before reach- ing the iudges' stand. Carol Wilson was our' sophomore attendant. The school session of 1961-1962 proved a big success for the iunior class. Under the leadership of President Tom Cuff, Vice President Rux Cannady, Secretary Barbara Miller, and Treasurer Judy Winzeler, we saw great heights. The class play, Meet Me in St. Louis, was a smash hit, and the Prom, Carousel, was praised as one of the best proms in the school's history. Although our Homecoming float only placed third, it was one of the most clever floats in the parade. It consisted of a slot machine, playing cards, dice, and poker chips, and the theme was Napoleon Is A Sure Bet. The iunior class attendant was Darla Weasel. Scholastically, nine juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. As seniors, we have made many academic, athletic and extracurricular accomplish- ments. Julia Mitchell received an acclaimed honor by winning a National Merit Scholarship. Eight additional seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society this year. More hard- working seniors have also made other laudable, academic achievements. Besides the past athletic records in which our boys played an important part, several league champion- ships show the fine athletic record the boys have made this year. During March much worthwhile, hard work was put on the class play, Pride and Preiudicef' Although the Homecoming float only placed third again, a clever theme, B.G. Will Smell Defeet, ac- companied a well-made float, consisting of big football shoes being smelled by a dummy representing a B.G. football player. Darla Weasel was our senior attendant, and Mary Ann Schueler reigned as Homecoming queen. The elected senior class officers were Jim Meyer, president, Tom Cuff, vice president, Jan Heckler, secretary, and Dave Dietrich, treasurer. Rux Cannady was our student council president and editor of the annual. Brenda Allen, pre- siding as queen, had a busy evening handing out gold medals and trophies at the first annual Gold Medal Track Meet, and Jane Pilliod represented Napoleon at the League Track Meet as the school's queen. Everyone enjoyed the senior graduation activities, and May 31, Commencement Day, was an unforgettable occasion, which brought to a close our class history.
