Under his administration the teaching staff has increased and one new department after another has been added. He organized the band for the first time and broadened the music department, later the industrial arts, home economics and then distributive education. The auditorium and gymnasium dream materialized and along with it came a beautful school, library, school cafeteria, and last our two beautiful new Elementary Schools. School is more than iust walls, bricks, and mortar. lt is spirit. lt is boys and girls, teachers and parents planning, working, and playing together. America's future sits today at classroom desks. America has offered freedom and opportunity such as no land before her has ever known. There is a voice in the soul of every human being that cries out to be free. America has answered that voice. He has a place in the hearts of all the student body. We wish him the very best that life has to offer. From 1919 to 1925 the Napoleon Board of Education employed him as High School Principal. ln 1925 he became Superintendent. Growing with the school system he took post graduate work at the University of Michigan and received his Masters Degree in Education. Also he has taken periodic summer school work at Ohio State University, the Univer- sity of Wisconsin and Chicago University in order to keep abreast of educational trends. He is a member of both the Ohio and National Educational Association and of the National Association of School Administrators. ln 1942, he was honored by being elected President of the North- western Ohio Teachers Association. He ioined Kiwanis in 1922 and was elected President in 1927. Under his direction the club spearheaded a campaign for a new river bridge which was built in 1929. He has served on the Board of Directors and chairmaned many committees. His valued counsel and help has been sought on practically every civic proiect in these past three decades.
