When we enfered school in Ihe firsf grade, Presidenl Roosevell had iusl begun his second lerm. Our counfry was iusl recovering from a nalional depression which had hir our counfry hard. Being fully recovered from lhis depression, war came. We were in lhe sevenlh grade al lhis lime, proud lhal we were finally in iunior high school. We lhoughl 'rhe war would lasl only a shorl' lime, bul il lasled longer 'lhan we expecled and affeclecl us and everyone around us. We saw our brofhers, sislers, and leachers going off lo war. Then we were freshmen, ioining clubs and organizalions, lhinlcing ourselves really big. Al lhis lime Presidenl Roosevell died and Vice Presidenl' Truman fool: his place. The mighfy alomic bomb ex- ploded over Hiroshima. Peace was declared and our boys slarled coming home. Some of lhe ever-friendly 'laces were again seen on lhe facully. Peace was ours bul we had paid a greai price for il. Now we were sophomores, able lo undersland aboul reconversion. We began lo see bubble gum come back on Ihe marlrel. The gas shorlage slopped and we once more could go lo ou'r-of- 'rown games. Then came our Junior-Senior Prom and Class plays. The new I946-47 cars came on lhe marlrel. The Uniled Nalions Organizaiion was formed. Our foofball 'team wilh many of lhe boys from our class in il became lhe bes+ .
