,Q WWW WWW 73, 544 eww Ldfheew-aJM1z.J The Lamps of the Years Cast a Warm Glow Rapxdly the star of the class of '50 xs disappearing beyond the horzzon, and w1th xt the memories and hxgh school lxfe of its members But let xt gleam for a moment on a morning four years ago Finally entering as hrgh school students stfll under the dxrectlon of our advisor Mr Hugh Howland, we were faced by more dlffxcult classes and new routme Like all green Freshmen, we found It hard to adjust ourselves to the new and dxfferent responsrblhtles we would have to undertake At last came our Sophomore year, and the thought that soon we would be upperclassmen What satlsfactxon to see the Freshlesu trying to adjust themselves as we had The classes were becommg more and more dxfficult wxth pesky angles and smelly dissected frogs and pickled pigs eyes holdmg the spothght As juniors we realized we had to start makxng money for our Semor trxp We held dances, sold candy and pop at basketball games as well as durmg noon hours Class ring measurements were taken and the realization that graduatlon was not too creased our excxtement We held it lh the school gym to begln a new precedent We put on the jumor play Everythxng on Ice The thrxll of our coming Semor year was suddenly dxmmed by the unexpected death of a good fnend and wonderful classmate B111 Bouldrey The apex of our high school lxfe was finally here, we were Senxors We said it over and over just to be sure xt was true The last s1x months began wxth the thrxll of Senior pxctures, no mxrades of photography were achleved, as yet, much to the dxsappozntment of some of the members Oh! We had a prevxew of the Cap and Gown Feehng lnvxtatxons were ordered and sent to all of our friends and relation spreadxng the glad news afar Practice for the class play was begun agam The hard work and great expectlon IS all 1n the past, but the empty feeling xn the pxt of our stomach when we appeared on stage, that memorable fxrst performance comes back as nf xt were only yesterday The junior and Senior banquet was held and was very much enjoyed by all Finally graduatzon the recexvmg of our dlplomas, of havmg our names read off as we proudly stand to let our frxends and relatwes see your last act as a hxgh school member Now we are ready for the partlng of the ways As our class motto says, To Strive to Seek, to Find, but not to Yield Z8 h V Q i . . Junzor Class H :story Editor jane Bechtal As meek and t1m1d as httle Freshmen we sneaked m the back s1de doors of Napoleon I-hgh School The upperclassmen played their pranks and trucks on us but we soon dxstmgulshed ourselves When Hallo ween Carmval tnme came along the green' Freshmen came out on top wlth our contestant jane Bechtol bexng crowned Queen of the school Our Sophomore year was rather dead but after many va1n efforts we created some ways to xncrease the value of our money bag We contmued mfluencmg the other classes and teachers by takmg part ln all of the school act1v1t1es jumors Oh, at last! Our officers led us throughout the year with poxse and ab1l1ty mn our many act 1v1t1es They were Pres1dent,j1m De Land, V1ce Presldent, jean Watts Secretary, Shxrley Patton and Treasurer, jane Bechtol One of our most excltmg moments was the selection of our class rmgs wh1ch really made us feel as though we were gettmg just that much closer to graduatxon Some of our other doxngs were the jumor play, the jumor Semor Banquet, and of course we were honored to have our candxdate, Marcxa Day, be crowned Queen of Napoleon l-hgh School, at the Halloween Carmval To keep our money bag bulgmg, we sold candy, statlonery, metal sponges, and had a rummage sale We now feel that we are ready to start our Semor year wlth a b1g bang Class Prophecy Tune 10 years after graduation Plzfce The dark and dreary offzce of a fortune teller Mary jo Seckmger thought she would be a teacher, but I see she d1dn t get that far She IS lwmg on a small Nancy Alken was golng to be a nurse, but her brain was so overtaxed with knowledge that she IS now Inmate of Kalamazoo Harry Wzllzams xs now a bxg tlme operator, ln fact, so much so that he now resldes at Cooper St College jackson, Michigan jamce Spencer IS stzll collecting her famous sweaters, I D braclets and rxngs She has made such a good haul that she opened a store whxch IS running mn strxct competxon wxth Scnmgers at jackson Betty Kxrkbrzde 15 now a famous auctxoneer at Crenshaw s Lxvestock Barns Delores Dunham s beauty has won her fame and fortune and she has been pxctured in many of the famous magazmes as the famous 'Mrs Robert Asterbullt Lenhart Kay Sparlmg has carried out all her most determmed plans She has flmshed college and IS now raxsmg the famous Halcott football squad Glenna Mae Eagy s husband, jack, IS coaching The Halcott Eleven Glenna xs composmg the cheerxng sectzon Carole Smith d1dn't fxmsh college as she planned, she and Morris are married and raxsmg throughbreds Beverly Brown is busy teaching school and un her spare tlme she IS sellmg lmght fxxtures Mary Ella Wetherby has gone through college and has now settled down to be a doctors wxfe Jeanne Spencer has left Woolworth s and IS now a bar maid at Shores Homer Huffman s track runmng m school has helped hun m hls married hfe because he ms really makmg tracks now Dorene Weesner IS chief assistant to the keeper of the city dog pound All the lost dogs that aren t called for ln less than six days, she takes home wrth her She really has a house full 30 . . ll I - I: ri 54 B II . . . . ll - II I . - . .
