Forensics The Forensics team gives students an opportunity to compete interscholastically in lllinois High School speech events. Some of the events they competed in included Thornwood, Thornridge and Downers Grove South. Melissa Sheridan qualified for state, radio and sectionals, and jenny McCarthy qualified for sectionals. Math Club The Math Club, led by Mr. Richard Nelson, had their meetings every Tuesday after school. They participated in the SAC carnival, running their usual casino. After participating in 5 of 6 contests, they finished lOth in the nation in the Atlantic-Pacihc High School Math League. At the Illinois Benedictine College Math Contest they ranked 4th of 27 with 3 students in the top I9 out of 140. They participated in the National Math Contest and The Conference Math Contest, where they ranked 3rd. Adam Narot was the president of the club, Scott Campbell, vice president, Mike Rechtin, secretary, and Stephanie Su was the treasurer. ORCHESIS ln its first year of existence Orchesis had many participants and was very successful in promoting dances and other activities, said the sponsor, Mrs. Mclntyre. Some of these activities included selling candy and other seasonal goodies at Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. The officers who were in charge of these activities were Kim Peterson fPresidentj, Amy Ubele Nice Presidentj, Laura Stotler fSocial Secretaryj, and Kim Stanley fTreasurerj. The participants also attended several performances such as 42nd Street, Hubbard Street Dance Company, and the Nutcracker. S.A.D.D. S.A.D.D., Students Against Driving Drunk, is an organization formed just this year under the direction of Miss Sandy Stelmach. S.A.D.D. meets Tuesday mornings at 7:15, and its membership is open to all concerned students. The organization is interested in eliminating drunk drivers to save lives, conducting community alcohol awareness programs, and informing students of the dangers of consuming alcohol and driving. S.A.D.D. says, The sun will come out tomorrow. Will you be there to see it?
