I understand his cafe is world famous and it is noted for the delicious, delectable dishes it offers. Evidently he is doing very well in his business as he has been awarded the Nobel prize for the best restaurant of the year. He informed us that all the eye- catchina pictures of nwhat is it?' decorating his huge restaurant were drawn by himself. Hey, who could this be pounding away so madly on a typewriter that the sweat just stands out in beads upon her frowning brow. Look- ing around we see that this is a newspaper office covering several blocks. The desk of this person is cluttered with papers, also, the wastebasket is overflowing with wads of discards. Aha, she is finished with her report. Oh, no! Not Janet Senne! She just couldn't be the Gossip Column Reporter for Qhg Star. It is the largest newspaper in the world and the Gossip Column is noted for covering the most gossip and getting it first. My heavens, she is a new Hedda Hopper. Getting back to lights, isn't that Richard Matthiesen's name in lights on the marquee? It says he is playing the lead in the new Broadway play WDon Juan and His Haremn. After all the practice he got in his senior year at Napavine being thebig lover in the play a talent scout from Hollywood discovered his talents and promised to make him the Valentino of the modern world. Richard started out playing big roles of Broadway and from there he went to Hollywood and became the favorite, star among the bobby-soxers and all the lady fans. we find there is no other star today that draws a crowd to the box-office the way Richard does and we understand his latest picture is the best yet because of his great ability to play such romantic parts. What a day! So far we have seen most of our old chums but Bev- erly Mathews. What ever happened to her? Maybe our crystal ball can help us. Back goes our scene toWRonnie's Rendezvous Ritzn. Hum, could it be she is a dishwasher? No, we now see advertised in large bold letters an eye-catching picture, 'Slender Sue and her Sexey Six Salliesn. Inside we see Beverly in an alluring little costume singing a catchy little song to the action of much leg work and arm technique. Boy, oh boy! Just watch those customers perk up at that cute pair of legs and dancing routine. we realize she must have changed her name to Slender Sue and put her lovely legs to use. After the show she is flocked with admirers Cmale, naturallyl and expensive gifts galore. Our scene shifts a little and we see a tiny figure swamped in mink furs hanging on the 'arm of an old man as she trips laughingly along on her gold high heels. She waves a diamond-studded, inch-wide white-gold bracelet. On her perfectly manicured hands we see a diamond ring so heavy that it overpowers the eye and blinds us for a moment with the dazzle of its blinding rays. Who can this gorgeous bit of perfumed perfection be? They are helped into their new Rolls Royce automobile by 'om ritzy chauffeurs axitake off in a jet of power leaving a by-stander in their dust. The by-stander shakes his head and mutters, UWho would ever guess that she, the wife of the richest man in the world, Mr. Moneybags, was once a little average school girl from Napa- vine?N Of course we are stunned and when we look further to find out we see it is none other but Helen Valeos, now the world famous Mrs. Moneybags. Yes, that old man was her husband. She always told us WMoney or neverln. What will-power! -13-

pl'0l9 QC? Let us take our crystal ball and look into the future year of 19805,-land see what the years have done for the members of the Class of ' o Look! Is that--yes, it's Johnny Bruenn, the famous civil engineer. le see that he is the greatest engineer in the world and has had a lot of offers to build a bridge across the Pacific Ocean. Johnny has done a lot of traveling all over the world doing his work and he has made quite a few stops at the Leaning Tower of Pizza to see what makes it lean. His biggest construction so far is a dam on the Amazon River which is twice as big as Grand. Coulee Dam. The crystal ball shifts the scene to the capital of the United States where Congress is now in session. Let's sneak in and see what is taking place. There is the woman senator from Oregon getting the floor. Don't tell me it's Ruth Matneyl Yes, we've heard big things of Ruth since she left N.H.S. and married David Cooper. They moved to Portland and both entered politics. Now they both have seats in the Senate. Commentators always use Ruth's statements and ask for her opinions when something big comes up. When her term is up this fall I understand she is going to be an ambassador to Russia. Since things are still pretty touchy between the United States anillussia the people feel Ruth is the best person to be sent. Ruth has also been one of the ten best-dressed women in the world for a number of years now. Denny Smith is coming into view now. Denny decided to make the Air Force his career after joining and he fast became the bestjet pilot at the base. Recently he made a flying trip to the moonand when he came back he had his long lost high school sweetheart CJo Ann, with him. She had been shot from a cannon and hadn't been found. They were married soon after and now Denny and his wife are making a tour of the United States giving lectures of his romantic flight to the moon. A fine mist spreads over the scene so we just tap the crystal ball a bit and it begins to clear up. Into our view comes a gruff sargeant barking orders to his men who azemarching in the hot tropical noon-day sun. Rumor says that already ten men have had sun strokes since they have been marching, since early morning. We look at him closer and see no other but Russell Davis, Bud as we called him, now in the easy job of Sargeant of the Army and living off the fat of the land, so to speak. He is doing so well drilling his men he expects a promotion in a few more years and is well pleased with his success and prospects in the future. A Look at that sign all lit up in neon lights, Ronnie's Rendezvous Ritz l That couldn't be curold school mate, Ronnie Brown's restaurant, could it? Let's tune the crystal ball in right and we'll go in and see. Yes, there's Ronnie bowing to all the customers as they come in. -17-

Our crystal ball is taking us to a fabulous house on the Riveria. Who could this big mansion belong to. Ah, there is someone lounging on the patio. At a closer look we see he has on bright phk lounging pajamas and is puffing on a huge cigar. His name-Bob Chappell--none other than the big oil tycoon, one of the richest men in the world. Let's see how this all came to be. we hear that Bob was traveling in Texas and he saw a big cactus on the side of the road which he admired and he decided he must own the land around there. Soon after he bought the land he was walking along admiring the cactuses he had bought when he stepped on a soft spot of ground and something black oozed up. After closely scrutinizing it and having tests made he discovered it was oil. He started drilling promptly and thewells have been producing ever since. He has made millions and now just loafs around taking in a lot of night life and traveling a lot. we now see Mr. Nelson in the crystal ball. After putting up with the class of 'Shu for four long years he has been searching for a may out of teaching school. Can we blame him? After teaching so many years, is it any wonder he wants to find the Fountain of Youth to gain back those young years he lost while teaching at N. H. S.? Now he has one of the best scenery centers in the world where he gets the peace and quiet he has long longed for. Upon visiting him we received only a slight glimpse of him for he dashed madly over the hill to him bomb shelter under the ground with his hands over his head. Could it be we were that hard on him? Watch out!! There went our crystal ball into a million pieces. The strain on it must have been too much for it.
