,jwhaiory It was thefall of 1950 when sixteen lost freshnm started along the path to four short years of hig1schoo1,which at thetime seemed so long to the class of 19514. The students entering high school were: Helen Valeos, Ronald Brown, Garyv Cabe, Robert Chappell, Beverly Mathews, Dennis Smith, Muriel Randall, Billy Randall, Thelma Koons, Willie Knee, and Johnny Bruenn, who had all successfully finished grade school at Napavine. Those enterirg from Jackson Prairie were: Patty Koski, Leola Swayze, Richard Matthiesen, and Melvin Galivan. Ella Hughes came from Seattle. Just as we were getting used to theways of high school days the sophomores really gave us a scare. They initiated us but after getting rid of lipstick we once again settled down to the good old high school days. We chose the Yellow Rose as our Class Flowezy Scarlet and White as our'Class Colors, Hamburgers and French Fries as our Class Food, and 'Experience Is The Best Teacher , as our Class Motto. The Girls' Leagme gave tin first dance in honor of us. We decorated and served. In our sophomore year we gained four new students: Rowland Randt from Winlock, Ruth Matney, from Missoula, Montana, Jack Knee from Port1and,.0regon, and Leonard Porter from Pe Ell. We properly initiated the freshmen and gave them a party the same night to make them forget the sting of the paddles. At the beginning of cur junior ymrwe gained cne new student, Janet Senne from Wishkah Valley. On November 7, 1952, we gave our junior play called A Ready-Made Family , and by a strange coincidence we received our class rings the same day. For the first time in manyuyears, the junior class gave a Junior- Senior Banquet. The banquet was given at tts St. Helen's Hotelin Chehalis in the Grill Room. All the teachers and their husbands and wives were invited. After the banquet most of the students went to the show. The banquet was held on May 8, 1953. We finally reached the last year of our high school career. A year which every high school student looks forward to. Our senior year. Our senior play was given on November 10, 1953. It was a great success. The name of the play was, Look Out Lizzie . We plan to go to Canada on our Skip Day sometime in May. Our baccalaureate date is set for May 23 and the graduation date is set for Hay 25. A fildkvs
