These two groups travelled up Island to Port McNeill for the Island Playoffs and had their best showing of the season in the Gold River ' Spiel, winning both A and B Events. Front L-R: Mrs. Brown, Karen McHady, Kelly Brown,Tove Pedersen. The NDSS team won the North Island Bowling Championship. As a result of this win. the girts ' team went on to represent the Vancouver Island North Zone in the Provincial Championship. The team placed fifth, narrowly missing a chance for a bronze medal. Although the Nanaimo team did not place In the top three positions of tht tournament, they are certainly to be congratulated for their achievement and for their fine efforts as ambassadors of goodwill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. 128
