Got Shot Will Throw FRESHMAN OFFICERS AND SPONSORS DEBATING TEAM ONE-ACT PLAY CAST Class Prophecy From all I've heard and read from the papers, and from my personal correspondence, I find 1 am proud of the group of people who graduated from Nahuuta High School with me in 1959. Here are some things I've learned about them and their activities: Wan- da Purcell whose ambition was to become a dress designer, is now in Holly- wood. She is now Mrs. John Saxon. Bobby Keene is in Philadelphia publish- ing a series of books. Norma Manning is now teaching school in Mahoney, Georgia. You should hear her talking about the despairs and heartaches caused by students of former classmates. Maxine Freeman is still Miss Revlon and operates her own beauty shop. Hubert Wilson has turned Hill Billy and can be heard on Saturday nights from Nashville, Tennessee. Caro- lyn Rowell is now private secretary for Miss Dorothy Davis who models swim suits for The Big Pay-Off. I heard that Layton Johns, still dreaming of rockets and outer space, is now coaching the Mahoney Pigeons where lone Knox (Roberson’s) son is play- ing center. Ernest Steedley is now an experienced chemist with his private office in Chicago. Believe it or not! It has a roof. Sandra Lee and Brenda Loper have just opened an Old Folks Home for retired bachelors. Their first customer was Royce Morgan. Shirley Highsmith is still a successful hot dog saleslady. She got her experience from ball games while still in high school. The former Miss Jean Esther Highsmith, now married to a wealthy electrician, was seen yesterday pawning her diamonds to buy her ten children some clothes. Giggles Johns, known in her early childhood as Blanche Jane, got her R. N. and nabbed an M. D. while he was under anesthetic. Our own George Thomas, now Ph. D., gave the count down for the last rocket to space station No. V. Kenneth Harris, loaded with fishing tackle was on that rocket to do research on space tishing. Stanley Davis and Char- lotte Herrin were elected Jitterbug King and Oueen in New York recently in a contest of dances of yesteryear. Buster Strickland, a leading citizen of Brantley Co.. Georgia, was recently elected ordinary. He performs about seven marriage ceremonies a day. Paul Jones was awarded the nation's top driving award for truckers. Marie Johns, now lives in a secluded mansion in the Rocky Mountains amid her cheaper-by-the-dozen family. When last heard from, Joe Sears was living among the last cannibal tribe in the world. He was trying to write about them and bring them civilization, but we are afraid that he has gone native! Patsy Hulett, on her way to winter in Florida, stopped in Nahunta recently to walk her dog. She was dressed in furs, finery, and four inch heels. Billy Gibson, a psychiatrist of renown, spe- cializes in treating mixed-up boys who want to quit school and run away from home. Wendol Rozier was recently written up in the Farm Journal as having the largest sheep ranch in the East. Carroll Allen, who has prospered on the West Coast, won a part in a movie that called for a character who could do a slick card trick. Announced in Washington last year was the appointment of Gene Crews as Ambassador to Russia. Must be his charmin' Person-al-i-ty! And who should win the Emmy Award of 1970 for the best comedian on T. V.; none other than our own J. W. (Rabbit) Moody. Head of the state Highway Department is Jerry Wilson, who spends his time trying out the roads. Ruth Rhoden is the wife of the R. C. Cola Company's president and has a staff of servants to fill her every wish. Katherine Foerman is an airline hostess on a United States Navy Plane, and is now in Jacksonville. Bobby Allen replaced Mr. Mizell upon his retirement as head of the Citizens Bank in Nahunta. He quoted, Try to get a loan as if you think you could. ” Elbert Flowers moved to Waycross last week, and has a position as floor walker in the shoe factory. He believes in wearing out what he helps to make! Marvin Griffin, ex-gov- erner you know, is now practicing law in Nahunta - still arguing the point. Now managing the New York Yankees after being a league leading hitter for that team is Edward Davis known as Power-House Davis. Gerald Thrift has ridden the Kentucky Derby winner for seven seasons. That has put him in a high income bracket and he now has his own stables and a hobby of art col- lecting. Marilyn Monroe, better known to the eye as Ann Steedly is now mod- eling in Lulaton, Georgia. Wayne White is with the Internal Revenue Service and is head of the Southern division. You better pay up Uncle Sam because he has no mercy on old friends. Pearl Williams has retired as a Powers Model. She is now acting as Skinnie Minnie. What will Bonnie Maronie say about this? Joseph Hickox became a minister and prefers the part of Army Chaplain. Still tall and slim and looking like a million is Connie Turner. He has been offered ninety-eight cents for his body. Gloria Popwell married well and is a wonderful homemaker. Since her three sons are larger, she devotes much of her time to running civic organizations. Two of her main assistant leaders are the matrons I know as Norma Dykes and Janice Little. Janice Sel- lers, an opera singer, made her last performance at the Satilla Lumber Com- pany. Last, but certainly not least, is A ley Lee, who is president of the Georgia Farm Bureau. I hear he will be on the ballot for National President this year. News has just come in that Martha Crews has been elected one of America's best dressed women. Hereby revoking and annulling all others by heretofore made. We do will and bequeath to the present Junior Class of Nahunta High School the following: ITEM 1 - Our ability to agree harmoniously on all matters both large and small. ITEM 2 - Our spirit of 100 percent participation and cooperation - espe- cially that of getting our work in on time; such as book reports and term papers.
