S ' Mr. Anderson initiated the reading program into all Wayne County Schools in grades 4-12, in order to increase comprehension and vocabulary. Students took placement tests at ±e beginning of the year to determine the level on which they would begin. It is taken twice a week and each student advances according to his ability to advance. Achievement tests will be taken again at the end of the year to determine the amount of progress make. The Juniors presented a hilarious play called Quit Your Kidding. The Father -Son and Mother -Daughter Banquet was held jointly in March. The finals to the peace essays were chosen. Seniors wrote citizenship essays entitled, cation As a Factor in Building Citizenship, Intercommuni- Mr. Jesse Grimes, our guidance counselor, has aided us in filling out ap- plication blanks, helping select vocations, and in- terpreting to us results of aptitude tests. Students took further aptitude tests given by the employment office, and were counseled by Wyche Ray and a lady from the Raleigh office.
